The 12-member 2014 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team was announced Sunday morning and features seven players boasting of prior USA Basketball experience, including Stanley Johnson (Mater Dei H.S./Fullerton, Calif.), Tyus Jones (Apple Valley H.S./Apple Valley, Minn.) and Justise Winslow (St. John’s School/Houston, Texas), who each have won two gold medals playing internationally for USA Basketball.

Also included on the official USA U18 roster are: Isaiah Briscoe (Roselle Catholic H.S./Union, N.J.); Jaylen Brown (Wheeler H.S./Alpharetta, Ga.); Jalen Brunson (Adlai E. Stevenson H.S./Lincolnshire, Ill.); Luke Kennard (Franklin H.S./Franklin, Ohio); Tyler Lydon (New Hampton School/Elizaville, N.Y.); Dwayne Morgan (St. Francis Academy/Baltimore, Md.); Allonzo Trier (Montrose Christian/Seattle, Wash.); Myles Turner (Trinity H.S./Bedford, Texas); and Stephen Zimmerman (Bishop Gorman H.S./Las Vegas, Nev.).

Chase Jeter, Antonio Blakeney and Thomas Welsh were the last three players cut.

The Northfield Mount Hermon quartet of Ian Sistare, Aaron Falzon, Josh Sharma and AJ Broduer are taking a cross-country trip with coaches John Carroll and James Cormier to visit numerous schools. My name is AJ Brodeur from Northborough, MA and I am 6’8″ rising junior at Northfield Mount Hermon School. This past season, I was able to make contributions to a strong basketball program, and we made it to the National Prep tournament final four, as well as the New England tournament final four. I have two years left at NMH and I hope that we will be able to make a couple championship runs.

Starting June 10th, Josh Sharma ’15, Ian Sistare ’16, Aaron Falzon ’15, and myself set out on a journey through the midwest region to visit the schools of interest along the way. Driven by head coach John Carroll and assistant James Cormier, we have already visited 6 schools in 4 days. Most recently, the last three universities we have been to include Purdue, Illinois, and Iowa. All three of these colleges had unique aspects to them such as their campuses, team philosophies, and player development. We were privileged to have the coaching staffs take time out of their days showing us around campus and talking about their current and future plans for the program.

The 6-foot-7 power forward from Chicago Simeon High holds 12 offers—which he attributed to his “energy.” With better performances in front of college coaches, he should prepare for even more.

NBA: Preseason-Utah Jazz at Portland Trail BlazersScott Machado has already won one Las Vegas Summer League title.

Now he’s looking for a second.

After playing — and winning — Summer League with the Golden State Warriors last season, the former Iona and St. Benedict’s Prep product will suit up with the Toronto Raptors beginning in July, as first reported by SNY.tv.

“I’m looking to show my growth in learning the game at the pro level,” the 6-foot-2 Machado said by phone. “At the same time being able to show that I can run a team the way I was running a team in college. Play my game and try to win another Summer League championship.”

Harvard freshman Chris Egi, Montaque “Teki” Gill-Caesar of Huntington Prep (pictured) and Dillon Brooks of Findlay Prep headline the Canadian Junior Men’s National Team that will represent Team Canada at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men in Colorado Springs.

“We’re pleased with the progress the team has made over the course of the training camp,” said head coach Roy Rana. “These athletes have shown outstanding work ethic and commitment to the team to solidify their spots on our final roster.”

Canada will begin group play in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship on Friday, June 20 against Brazil.

Potential No. 1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins has three workouts scheduled for next week, according to Chad Ford of ESPN.

Ford Tweeted that Wiggins worked out for the Milwaukee Bucks Friday in Santa Barbara and will then work out in Philadelphia on Monday, Cleveland on Wednesday and Milwaukee on Friday.

The Cavaliers pick first, the Bucks second and the Sixers third in the June 26 NBA Draft.

Meantime, conflicting reports emerged Friday about the health of  Wiggins’s former Kansas teammate Joel Embiid, who reportedly met with and worked out for the Cavs last week. Embiid suffered a stress fracture in his lower back that kept him out of the Big 12 and NCAA Tournaments, but then performed well in front of NBA executives and coaches during a workout in Santa Monica, Calif., last month.
