    The Northfield Mount Hermon quartet of Ian Sistare, Aaron Falzon, Josh Sharma and AJ Broduer are taking a cross-country trip with coaches John Carroll and James Cormier to visit numerous schools.     Hello, everyone, my name is Aaron Falzon.

    I’m a rising senior 6-foot-8 forward at Northfield Mount Hermon from Newton, MA. Just for a refresher, for those who have not been following our blog about our tour, my teammates Josh Sharma ’15, Ian Sistare ’16, AJ Brodeur ’16 and I have been on a road trip visiting colleges throughout the Midwest accompanied by our head coach, John Carroll, and assistant coach, James Cormier.

    In the past two days we visited Wisconsin, Marquette, and, in Chicago, watched NBA draft prospects workout, which included Doug Mcdermott and Nik Stauskas.

    Matt Ryan recalls long afternoons and nights spent between himself and the 10-foot driveway rim in his Cortlandt Manor home, a stone’s skip from Main Street.

    Before he was one of the country’s most hotly-pursued prospects, with high-majors steadily upping their interest in the 6-foot-7, 220-pound kick-out shooter, Ryan piled up shots for hours and hours and hours, backing up beyond his own chalk-inscribed 3-point line.

    Encased in the Duke jersey of J.J. Redick, Ryan’s boyhood idol,
    countless shooting sessions were sliced short when his mother, Laurie Ryan, called him inside to complete homework.

    Tennis

    Serena(AP) – Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams were seeded No. 1 for Wimbledon on Wednesday, while defending men’s champion Andy Murray was bumped up two spots above his world ranking to No. 3.

    Djokovic, the 2011 Wimbledon champion, is ranked No. 2 but was given the top seeding by the All England Club ahead of top-ranked Rafael Nadal.

    Nadal, a two-time Wimbledon champion who is coming off his ninth French Open title, is seeded No. 2 for the grass-court Grand Slam, which starts on Monday.

    Murray last year became the first British player to win the Wimbledon men’s title since 1936.

    Indiana, Recruiting

    Rawle Alkins’s phone is ringing off the hook now that college coaches can call rising juniors, and Christ the King coach Joe Arbitello isn’t surprised.

    “He’s still growing as a player and gets better every year,” Arbitello told SNY.tv. “He’s just starting to understand how much talent is in his body.”

    Ranked No. 45 in the Class of 2016 by ESPN.com, Alkins was named MVP of the recent Frankie Williams Charity Classic and also helped lead Christ the King to its second straight New York City Catholic title and second straight New York State Federation Class AA championship.

    Since Sunday’s midnight rubicon that allowed coaches to call, the 6-foot-4 Christ the King guard added an Indiana offer and also fielded calls from Florida, Kansas, Villanova and N.C. State.

    Articles, Kentucky, Recruiting

    One day after picking up a scholarship offer from Louisville, 2016 Gill St. Bernard’s and Team Scan combo guard Tyus Battle has added a Kentucky offer to his collection.

    The 6-foot-6 Battle — who averaged 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game last season at Gill St. Bernard’s — was at Kentucky Monday and Tuesday after visiting Louisville Sunday and Monday.

    “Not in a million years would I ever expect that at 16 years old, that my son, that we’ve been working since he was 6 years old with a dream to play college basketball, that we would have the best of the best,” Gary Battle, the player’s father, told SNY.tv by phone Tuesday evening.

    “He’s an A-class kid and I know he’ll stay that way, and I guess some people think he might be an A-class basketball player as a prospect and talent. It makes me feel good because he’s put in a lot of time, put up with a lot of stuff with me, telling him how to do this and do that, what’s important.”

    A brief coaching search at Marist came to a close when the school announced on Tuesday afternoon that it hired Williams College head coach Mike Maker as its 11th head coach.

    A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McCann Arena on the Poughkeepsie campus.

    Maker, who was 147-32 and went to the Division III title game twice in six seasons at the D3 power, replaces Jeff Bower, who resigned after one season to become the General Manager of the Detroit Pistons. Bower, a Marist assistant from 1986-95, was previously the General Manager of the New Orleans Hornets.

    Earlier in the day, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported that Marist was expected to hire Maker, while sources told SNY.tv that a deal between the two sides was being finalized with the hopes of announcing it Tuesday and holding the press conference on Wednesday.
