    In the ‘You can’t make this up’ category, three players from Chipola (FL) College were arrested Thursday and charged with tampering with evidence after they ate marijuana upon being stopped by the Marianna (FL) Police Department.

    The three players are Florida State commit Cinmeon Bowers; uncommitted sophomore guard Torian Graham, who was being recruited by Missouri, Memphis Kentucky and others; and freshman guard Jamaar McKay-Taylor.

    All three have been suspended indefinitely from the team, sources confirmed to SNY.tv.

    Providence head coach Ed Cooley and his whole staff were on hand Sunday night at the Hoophall Classic to watch Donovan Mitchell, a 6-foot-3 2015 combo guard from Brewster (N.H.) Academy.

    “It was really nice,” Mitchell told SNY.tv after scoring 13 points in Brewster’s 91-73 victory over Wilbraham & Monson. “It shows that they are really interested in me.”

    Mitchell also recently visited Florida and has taken in a UConn game. He currently holds offers from Iowa, Providence, Boston College, Cincinnati, Creighton, Maryland, UConn, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Fordham, Florida and Marquette with interest from Kansas.

    KETTERING, Ohio – After collecting 28 points and 12 rebounds in a 76-71 win over Christian Brothers (MO) at the Flyin’ to the Hoop Invitational, Shaker Heights forward Esa Ahmad is receiving high praise from his head coach.

    “I just think teams in the country are sleeping on this kid,” Danny Young said of his 6-foot-8 junior. “[Ahmad] is averaging really close to 30, like 29.5 and about 13, 14 rebounds. He’s done that from game one. For 15 games he’s put up 30 and 12.”

    Although there may be some schools that are sleeping on Ahmad, there are still plenty of colleges that he’s in contact with.

    WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- Jonathan Jean is a name that will sneak up on the basketball world this year.

    A 5-foot-11 point guard from East Bay (Fla.) who heads the talented Nike Team Florida during the AAU season, Jean made a name for himself alongside some of the best young talent in Florida with Haanif Cheatham and Florida-bound Kevarrius Hayes  during the summer months when he helped to take down V.J. King and Luke Kennard‘s King James Shooting Stars in the semifinals of the 16U National Championships in Orlando.

    “After this summer, I really feel like I can run the show,” Jean told SNY.tv after a 31-point, 6-rebound and 3-assist performance at the Josh Giles MLK Classic. “Its so much easier with so many talented players though.”

    Huntington Prep guard JaQuan Lyle says he will cut his list soon.

    “Here in the next week and a half to two weeks, I’ll probably narrow [my list] and take my other officials ,too,” Lyle told CBSSports.com after he scored 11 points as Huntington beat Prime Prep, 52-48, Saturday at the Hoop Hall Classic.

    The former Louisville commit now lists UConn, Memphis, Kansas, Providence, West Virginia, Oregon and Florida State, as well as Oklahoma State, as he told SNY.tv last week.

    The Cowboys, who lost to Joel Embiid and Kansas earlier Saturday, will likely lose both Marcus Smart and Markel Brown.

    On the same day that Seton Hall won at Georgetown for the first time in more than a decade, Pirate recruits Desi Rodriguez and Isaiah Whitehead led Lincoln High School to a breakout victory at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.

    The 6-foot-5 Rodriguez — who pledged to Seton Hall last month after Whitehead committed in the fall — went off for a series of dunks en route to 25 points in Lincoln’s 90-66 win over Yates.

    “I tried to show my athleticism,” Rodriguez told reporters. “I tried to dunk it a few times and get the crowd into it. My teammates helped. I feel like I have great chemistry with Isaiah and Elisha [Boone]. We’re just trying to come out and play hard for every minute we’re out there.
