Following his second visit to Ohio State on Monday, D’Angelo Russell had seen enough to pull the trigger.

“Just the environment pretty much turned me on,” the 6-foot-5, 185-pound shooting guard out of Montverde (FL) Academy told SNY.tv by phone. “I have a really good relationship with the coaching staff and I really feel like this was the best opportunity to be the best that I could be, and I feel like today was a really good day to decide.”

The No. 22 prospect in the Class of 2014 per Rivals, Russell returned from his second visit to Ohio State Monday. He said he also strongly considered Michigan State.

“I didn’t go through the process of cutting my list, but I built a good relationship with them,” he said. “Honestly, if anybody was closest to them it was probably Michigan State.”

A Louisville native, Russell helped Coach Kevin Boyle’s Montverde club win the ESPN NHSI in April, defeating Syracuse-bound Tyler Ennis and St. Benedict’s Prep, 67-65.

It’s no secret that the Knicks need an infusion of youth in their frontcourt.

Amar’e Stoudemire has chronic knee issues, Rasheed Wallace and Kurt Thomas both retired, Marcus Camby is flat-out old, Kenyon Martin is almost as ancient and Tyson Chandler is a limited offensive player who needs some support.

The Knicks will continue to work out a slew of big men — in addition to point and shooting guards — and will have to decide which is the biggest need when they pick at No. 24 in the June 27 NBA Draft.

Wanaah Bail, a 6-foot-9 forward from Houston, Texas, signed a grant-in-aid with UCLA, the school announced.

Bail’s eligibility to compete in the 2013-14 season is undetermined. UCLA will continue to work through the process to determine his status for the upcoming season.

Bail was ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 28 player at his position and the No. 115 overall player in the high school class of 2012. He graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 2012, where he was a two-year varsity letterwinner playing for head coach Luke Lucky.

He was enrolled at Texas Tech for the first summer school semester last season before leaving because he reportedly “couldn’t deal” with former Texas Tech coach Billy Gillispie.

PHILADELPHIAWhile the potential Tyus Jones/Jahlil Okafor package deal has garnered the most attention among the Class of 2014, there is at least one other pair of elite players planning on playing together.

Abdul-Malik Abu and Jared Terrell of the Expressions Elite AAU program continue to plan a future on the same college hardwood.

“Yeah, definitely if it works for both of us, we’re definitely going to do it,” the 6-foot-7 Abu told SNY.tv after posting 20 points and 7 rebounds in the Mary Kline Underclassmen Game last Sunday.

Quadri Moore still isn’t close to making a college decision, but says five schools are working the hardest for his services.

The 6-foot-8, 225-pound center from Linden (N.J.) told SNY.tv that Cincinnati, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Wake Forest and Marquette comprised that group.

“There are a few schools I talk to the most,” he told SNY.tv. “I want to see if any other schools come after July.”

Moore said he plans to take official visits in August and September.

Former Syracuse sharpshooter James Southerland continues to work out for a slew of NBA teams with an eye toward getting chosen in the June 27 NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-8, 221-pound Queens native is at the Memphis Grizzlies today (Friday) after visiting the Washington Wizards Thursday, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, told SNY.tv.

He has the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs coming up.
