St. Anthony senior power forward Jerome Frink could announce his college choice this week, his mother told SNY.tv.
Ingrid Frink said her son is considering “Hofstra, FIU, Iona, Quinnipiac and a couple other schools.”
“He’s still looking,” she told SNY.tv. “He should make his decision by this week.”
She added: “He still has two more visits. I’m not sure if he’s going to take them this week.”
PENNINGTON, N.J. — Billy Diamond would’ve been the envy of a lot of Division 1 college coaches on Saturday afternoon.
Coaching the Blue Underclassmen team in the Mary Kline Classic, Diamond fielded a starting five of Isaiah Briscoe, Tyler Ennis, Wayne Selden, Rondae Jefferson and Jermaine Lawrence.
That quintet has college coaches across America drooling and they did not disappoint.
But in the end, the 6-foot-10 Lawrence, a junior forward out of Pope John (N.J.), was named MVP of the Blue team after pouring in a game-high 27 points with a variety of slashes, drives and dunks in their 143-122 win.
PENNINGTON, N.J. — Karl Towns is a 16-year-old basketball prodigy who could play for John Calipari’s Dominican Republic team in this summer’s London Olympics.
A 6-foot-11 rising sophomore at St. Joe’s High School in Metuchen, N.J., Towns, whose mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, is Dominican, trained with the Dominican Senior National Team last year and has been invited to do so again this year.
“The Olympic team, yeah,” Towns told SNY.tv Saturday at the Mary Kline Classic. “They asked me to come over. They want me to play. I’m just going to go down to Kentucky and practice with them. I know [the training] is soon.”

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — For most freshmen, the thought of college seems miles away. Not even old enough to drive, thoughts of where you will attend school are scheduled for the junior and senior year.
For 2015 Ribet Academy (Los Angeles, Ca.) point guard Tyler Dorsey, choosing where he will attend school will occur over the next few months. That choice isn’t focused on a NCAA Division 1 program, at least not yet, instead it’s focused on some of the country’s top prep schools.
Jerrid Dorsey, father of Tyler, says St. Johns Bosco (Los Angeles, Cal.) and national powerhouses Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Cal.) and Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) are among those being considered for the 2012-13 season.
NEW YORK — LeBron James played the first playoff game of his life at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.
And for the first time in his life, he heard more than 19,000 fans serenading him with an expletive every time he touched the basketball–
“A–hole, a–hole.”
“No, it’s not the first time, it’s just the first time it’s been in unison like that,” James said with a chuckle Friday at Madison Square Garden. “Everybody at the same time said it.”
Anthony Bennett has cut Florida from his list and is now down to three schools.
As first reported by Scout.com, the 6-foot-7 Findlay Prep forward is now down to UNLV, Oregon and Kentucky, all of which he has visited unofficially.
Bennett was on the UNLV campus with his mother on Thursday and enjoyed the visit.
“He loved the staff,” Findlay assistant Todd Simon told SNY.tv. “He connected well with them. His friend Khem Birch is on the team.”
