LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — For most freshmen, the thought of college seems miles away. Not even old enough to drive, thoughts of where you will attend school are scheduled for the junior and senior year.
For 2015 Ribet Academy (Los Angeles, Ca.) point guard Tyler Dorsey, choosing where he will attend school will occur over the next few months. That choice isn’t focused on a NCAA Division 1 program, at least not yet, instead it’s focused on some of the country’s top prep schools.
Jerrid Dorsey, father of Tyler, says St. Johns Bosco (Los Angeles, Cal.) and national powerhouses Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Cal.) and Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) are among those being considered for the 2012-13 season.
“The one that I think right now, that we’re interested in would be, maybe St. Johns Bosco, which has the two Hamilton brothers, Isaac and Daniel. I’m trying to see what else they have and how the chemistry [between the three of them] would work,” said Mr. Dorsey.
“Then you’ve got Mater Dei, which is one of the better schools in Southern California,” Jerrid said. “I really don’t think they’re going to work either, but we’ll take another quick look at them.”
When it comes to Findlay Prep, distance is a concern. “They’re a little further away, but I think Tyler can handle it,” said Jerrid. “If it was going to be the best situation for him, then I think he can handle that. Probably his junior year would be better, but the way they’re transitioning now over there, he could step right in and be one of the main guys.”
Although the current focus is on locking down a decision for next season, the ultimate decision will be where Tyler will attend college. UCLA, North Carolina, Louisville, Kansas and Illinois are among those showing early interest.
“The highest interest right now, undoubtedly, is Arizona. They made an early offer before high school started. They made an offer in eighth grade,” Jerrid said. Tyler also holds offers from USC and Oregon State.
When Tyler was asked who was showing interest, his last statement was accompanied with a huge smile, “I’m just waiting on Kentucky to come in.”

I can’t imagine how a real UK fan feel when it comes to recruiting lol. Every kid dickrides that program, it’s not even funny. Crazy how at first when they didn’t have recruits for this incoming class, some of them were panicking.

Money Talks. It is just the selfish players that do not value the college experience or a free education.

Yes, we are jealous that College Basketball is being ruined by the one and done rule. And Calipari is just the person to take advantage and bring the entire game that I love down. Eventually people will stop caring including me. And I am as die hard as they come. This game is turing into nothing but recruiting and it sickens me.

“value the college experience”. thats a great laugh. since when did fans start care about what these kids get to experience.
i would love to know how many college basketball fans actually went to the university whose bball program they cheer for. my guess is you will find many who actually dont. which makes you wonder why they care about such things to begin with.

Yo, you either SMOKE OR GET SMOKED. As coach k pointed out and we all know, college game is at mercy to the NBA. ITs been effed up now for years and has nothing to do with Cal. He is just killing it now,

Kansas grad here. While it may have nothing to do with Cal, he is still the poster boy for this unfortanate turn in events in College B-Ball. And when it all comes crashing down, Cal, will be the scape goat. The NCAA will point to him and say look how he screwed up College basketball. Lexington will then be burned to the ground as College basketball is all it’s citizens have to look forward too.

Again, how does Cal have anything at all to say about this mess? David freaking stearn and the P.A have to get this shit right.

It’s not Cal’s or Stern’s fault at all, it’s the NBPA.
