COLUMBIA, S.C.- Harry Giles is on the road to recovery from a torn ACL, meniscus and MCL that he suffered playing Team USA basketball this past summer. All ‘the hard work is starting to pay off.

“I’m getting stronger everyday,” Giles told SNY.tv on Friday. “I’ve started running recently, so that feels great to be running again. I’m shooting lately, so it’s stable enough right now to get some shots up.”

Seton Hall pledge and former Huntington Prep power forward Angel Delgado has been enrolled at The Patrick School in Elizabeth, N.J. since last week and is expected to play with the team at the Holiday Classic in San Diego Dec. 26-30, head coach Chris Chavannes told SNY.tv.

New Jersey rules require six practices before a player can suit up in a game once they transfer. The team’s next game is Friday in San Diego.

“He enrolled last week and has been working out with the team,” Chavannes told SNY.tv.

Myles Turner is taking an unofficial visit today (Saturday) to Texas for the Michigan State game, his father told SNY.tv.

“On my way! To Austin!,” the 6-foot-11 Turner Tweeted.

Asked how interested Texas was, David Turner said, “Extremely interested.”

Texas assistant Chris Ogden recently watched Turner go for 29 points, 15 rebounds and 9 blocks as Trinity (TX) beat Homeschool Christian (TX), 57-53, on ESPNU.

COLUMBIA, S.C. –– Derrick Jones put on a solid showing with 13 points and 7 rebounds on Saturday at the Chick Fil A Classic in a 54-47 win over Thon Maker and Carlisle (Va.) in front of a crowd that included North Carolina assistant Steve Robinson.

“I feel like I played OK today,” Jones told SNY.tv after the game. “We have another game tomorrow, so I’m gonna need to play better, but I felt like I played okay today.”

JAQUANLYLE_NIKE_-COPYJaQuan Lyle remains one of the few big-name 2014 prospects still on the board.

The 6-foot-4 Huntington (W.V.) Prep guard scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half Thursday night, when his team lost Kentucky pledge Trey Lyles and Arsenal Tech, 78-70, on ESPN.

Kansas assistant Norm Roberts and West Virginia’s Bob Huggins and Larry Harrison were all in attendance.

“Kansas is a real nice fit,” Lyle told the Indy Star. “They were out here tonight and I think they coming Sunday, too. I think they are picking up the pressure.”

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant are friends and former Olympic teammates.

Some speculate they could be future teammates in the NBA.

So Anthony empathized with the latest setback for Bryant, which will cause him to miss six weeks with a left knee fracture.

“It’s sad, man. I mean, my brother, man, he went down again,” Anthony said Friday. “I know how hard he worked to get back so hopefully this will make him that much more better. You can’t train for an injury. You can’t prevent an injury. It was a freak accident, just a sad situation to see him come back from one injury and gotta deal with another.”

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Count Carmelo Anthony among those impressed by Jabari Parker.

“I watched the game yesterday, I like him a lot,” Anthony said of the Duke freshman at Knicks practice Friday. “I can just see the upside, the potential he has. His style of play kind of reminds me of myself, the things that he can do. His mid-range game, there’s not too many people at that level who have a mid-range basketball game. It’s hard to teach, it’s hard to learn, so if you have it that’s a special talent.”
