Kyle Anderson played his first game in a UCLA uniform Saturday.

The game happened to take place in Beijing, China. Against Tsinghua University.

Hardly Kentucky, Duke or Kansas.

But the 6-foot-9 Anderson flashed his diverse talents by going for 11 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in UCLA’s 116-68 victory that kicked off a three-game trip. He has been playing a lot of point forward in the UCLA offense.

(AP) — Marquette coach Buzz Williams fired assistant Scott Monarch on Friday, and Williams will serve a one-game suspension as part of the school’s self-imposed sanctions for recruiting rules violations it reported to the NCAA.

The school said Monarch gave team-issued apparel and provided transportation to an unnamed recruit, then was “found to have been untruthful with department administrators on multiple occasions” after the violations were discovered.

“When I was allowed to review the report earlier this week, I was deeply saddened to learn of an error in judgment of one of my assistants and closest friends,”

Memphis (Tenn.) East small forward Nick King will announce his college choice Monday, with the hometown Tigers considered the favorites for his services.

Jason Smith of the Memphis Commercial Appeal Tweeted Friday, “(Gut feeling) hasn’t changed. I would be shocked if Memphis isn’t the pick Monday.”

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound left-hander is also considering Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Texas.

Huntington Prep shooting guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes trimmed his list to five schools via Twitter Friday.

The 6-4 Rathan-Mayes Tweeted, “My top 5 are Baylor, FSU, Uconn, Illinois and Texas no specific order.”

Rathan-Mayes, who plays on the CIA Bounce AAU team alongside Syracuse-bound point guard Tyler Ennis and uncommitted 2014 wing Andrew Wiggins, has yet to take the SAT and thus cannot take any official visits.
