The Knicks on Wednesday signed Chris Smith, the younger brother of shooting guard J.R. Smith and a former Louisville Cardinal.
Chris Smith tweeted pictures of himself signing the contract with Knicks GM Glen Grunwald sitting in the background.
Smith played for the Knicks summer league team in Las Vegas, averaging 5.2 points and 1.4 assists. He figures to be the fourth shooting guard on the Knicks roster.
Indiana is now making a run at Troy Williams, the high-flying Virginia wing who had a tremendous July at the Nike Global Challenge and Peach Jam.
“Indiana’s in there now,” legendary AAU coach Boo Williams, Troy’s uncle, told SNY.tv Wednesday.
“They have been really hard on him. Tom Crean was at almost every game [in July].”
The 6-foot-6 Williams initially planned to commit to either Kentucky or North Carolina in May, and that kept Indiana out of the mix early.
Just a few days after watching 2014 forwards Abdul-Malik Abu and Alec Brennan at the “Live in AC” event, both Maryland and Temple have offered them scholarships.
Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon called Expressions 16s coach Tyron Boswell on Tuesday, and Temple assistant Dwayne Killings also called. Both watched the 6-foot-8 Abu and the 6-10 Brennan play in the 16s final on Friday, where the Expressions lost to Team Takeover.

After all, the Bearcats finished 344th out of 344 teams in the RPI last year.
They went 2-29 a year ago under former coach Mark Macon, who compiled a 23-70 record in this three years at the school.
