Leron Black Hosting Big-Time Coaches on Home Visits; Chiozza to Visit USC

Despite being on the shelf with an ankle injury, Leron Black is in the midst of hosting some big-time schools this week.

The 6-foot-7 2014 power forward from Memphis White Station met Monday with N.C. State’s Mark Gottfried, Tennessee’s Cuonzo Martin and Georgia Tech’s Brian Gregory, his AAU coach with Team Thad, Norton Hurd, told SNY.tv.

Ohio State coach Thad Matta is due in today and Florida’s Billy Donovan comes Wednesday.

Hurd said Black, who decommitted from Baylor in January, plans to definitely take official visits in the fall to UConn and Florida.

“I know UConn and Florida are for sure,” Hurd said. “Ohio State, Kansas and Illinois are the favorites for the other three.”

Kansas coach Bill Self is due on to visit Black soon, and UConn’s Kevin Ollie has been in several times, Hurd said.

Kentucky and Duke have also expressed interest, and Hurd said Wildcats coach John Calipari was planning on watching Black this past weekend at the Pitt Jam Fest, but didn’t come because Black was sidelined with the ankle injury.

“They didn’t come, they were coming to see Leron,” Hurd said.

After the home visits, Black hopes to heal up and be back on the court relatively soon.

He will take his officials in the fall

“I think Leron will wait till around November,” Hurd said,

In his absence this weekend, several other Team Thad players stepped up and benefitted.

Chris Chiozza, a 5-9 point guard, picked up offers from USC and Tennessee to go with offers from Butler, VCU, Richmond, Auburn, Ole Miss, UMass and Missouri, Hurd said.

“I know Chris got an offer from USC  last night,” Hurd said. “I know for sure he’s taking that visit to California.”

Hurd said Florida’s Donovan is also interested in both Chiozza and 6-7 forward Marcanvis Hymon, who currently holds offers from Memphis, Cincinnati, Missouri, VCU, Ole Miss, Auburn and UMass.

Meantime, 6-7 forward Riley Norris of Team Thad holds offers from Stanford, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Arkansas and Ole Miss.
