MiKyle McIntosh Nearing Decision

MiKyle McIntosh, a 6-foot-6 wing from Jackson (Ky.) 22 Feet Academy, has a couple of more visits planned and then hopes to come to a decision.

McIntosh will visit Miami April 24-25 and also plans to visit Illinois State and Florida. He has already been to UCLA.

“I wanted to decide by the end of April but I haven’t been able to take all my visits, so maybe the beginning of May,” he told SNY.tv in a phone interview.

UCLA is still involved after the coaching change that brought in Steve Alford because Korey McCray remains in an administrative role.

“Coach Korey’s still there, so he’s the person that brought me in,” McIntosh said.

As for Illinois State, McIntosh is friends with freshman guard Kaza Keane, his former Grassroots Canada teammate.

Miami gets the next visit next week, and dates to Illinois State and Florida have not been set.

“His upside is great,” 22 Feet Academy coach Ryan Schmidt said. “He’s out guarding guys on the perimeter. On the offensive side he handles it as well as a 6-1 or 6-2 guard. Body-wise, he’s a naturally a strong kid, he’s going to become even stronger.”

McIntosh is part of the new wave of Canadian players who have come to the U.S. for more exposure and a chance at a college scholarship.

“We’re moving up,” he said. “All the talent is not in America. It’s in Canada, too.”
