As we reported Friday night on Twitter, Cordia (Ky.) High point guard Emmanuel Owootoah is off the board.
“He committed to Fresno State,” Cordia coach Rodrick Rhodes told SNY.tv.
“He really enjoyed the coaching staff, he enjoyed the players when he went out on his visit. I think [head coach] Rodney [Terry] did a great job cultivating a relationship with the kid. He was the only head coach outside of Bob Huggins that actually came to see the kid play.”
A native of the Toronto area, the 5-foot-11 Owootoah drew interest from Purdue, Indiana, Kentucky, Seton Hall and DePaul, but only had the one offer from Fresno State.
He averaged 16 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals at Cordia.
“He’s a natural-born leader,” Rhodes said. “He’s the ultimate point guard. He does a phenomenal job of running the team and he’s going to do exactly what you ask him to do as the head coach. He’s a natural point guard.”
