How the New Big East & America 12 Will Look Going Forward

With the Catholic 7 reportedly set to breakaway and become the new Big East as of today, here’s a quick reminder of how the new leagues will look going forward.

Keep in mind that the ACC will reportedly accept Notre Dame this summer assuming the Irish can negotiate an exit from the Big East. Notre Dame had planned on remaining in the Big East until 2014 assuming the Catholic 7 did the same.

But the Catholic 7 are now going to leave and form their new league — taking the Big East name with them — beginning July 1. They also need to hire a commissioner, set up league offices (potentially in New York) and organize bylaws.

The old Big East, meantime, is reportedly set to become the America 12 even though it may only have 10 members next year.
