“Yeah, pretty much. I don’t see why not,” said Damian Leslie, Jack’s mentor.
“Aside from it being in a nice environment and having a winning tradition, he visited the school so you would have to say that’s what it is.”
Jack visited Arizona in January and then came home and led Rice to the SNY Invitational title at LIU-Brooklyn.
Coaches from Providence, St. John’s and Miami came to watch Jack in that event, when he earned MVP honors.
Leslie also listed Arkansas, UCLA, UConn, Florida and Seton Hall and said Jack would take additional visits after the season ends.
“After the season,” Leslie said.
Jack and the Raiders play Xaverian Friday in the Catholic League playoffs and are aiming to defending their New York State Federation Class AA championship.
“Right now he’s just focused on ball,” Leslie said.
The Arizona Daily Star reported that the Wildcats have just one scholarship remaining for 2010 and 2011, yet they are involved with Jack, Baltimore’s Josh Selby, New York’s Doron Lamb and Michigan’s Ray McCallum.
A source close to the Arizona program said Selby, Lamb and Jack remain the program’s “highest priorities.”

Just created a fantasy baseball league on espn.com for anyone on this site that is interested. It is a free private head to head league and both the league name and password is zagsblog. The draft will take place monday march 8th at 8:45 est time and is open to anyone interested. I ask anyone that signs up to use their name on this site as their team name so everyone knows who’s who. Sign up quick only 10 spots.
It should bridge the gap between college bball seasons with some good trash talk.

You got to be kidding? You wanna compare Arizona to Seton Hall? Arkansas? I mean i understand UCLA, and UCONN, but UCLA has a 5star center already coming in next year, and UCONN with all the Calhoun issues I doubt will be a real recruiting player for any of these other kids their recruiting(Corey J, Josh S, Doron L). Zona is the right place for this kid next year. K. Jack, D. Bejarano, J. Selby, D. Lamb and the uncommitment of Mayes would be a nice class. I know i’m dreaming with Selby and Lamb, but thats what pre-season college ball is all about. Sorry WildCats but i think were already in Pre-Season.

Wow, JessieWildcat actually has a point. The latest revelations appear to point KU leaning the McCallum direction. Lol, UA saw the writing on the wall, Selby is the top prize. What do you think about that WoodMan; Thoughts?
Jack will take his visits during the off season and UA holds serve. Our real threat is ironically, the UCONN Huskies. The other schools can be quickly scratched off. UCLA has the Center from Washington and a bunch of 4’s coming back. Jack said the criterion is to play immediately and play for a winner. Check and Check. Book IT!

Where is this McCallum stuff coming from? If Jessie’s source is McCallum’s list on Rivals I’m pretty sure that’s old news. There is no talk coming out of KU regarding McCallum and there hasn’t been in months. I’m pretty sure Self realized early on that he’s most likely going to play for his dad.

IM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF YOU ARIZONA FANS AND WESTCOAST COLLEGE FANS FOR THAT MATTER!!! On every post you keep talking about Selby and why he is going to end up at Zona or Kansas or whatever who cares? I hope he lands at Uconn just to end the situation!
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
Kadeem Jack will land In the Big East once he starts taking visits, he already stated on NBE that his intrest is to play BE ball because of level of competition. The last time I checked the PAC-10 didnt have one team ranked in the top 25 at all and Is by far the weakest conference in the nation, so Arizona is not a sure thing so cut the Book Richardson talk its only March!
/
Bicoastlymostly / March 4, 2010
Mr. Hallball. When you spell out everything in caps – does that mean you’re angry or just writing really loud? Either way, I have to say, it was very scary. What you may not know is that the internet goes all the way to California and other places besides the east coast so sometimes, you will get people from other areas reading your internet and commenting on the issues. And yes, you are correct, the Pac 10 is way down this year…perhaps it is because they have sent more kids to the pros (also known as the NBA) than any other conference the past two years. It is a rebuilding year for the conference – it happens all the time, I promise. An finally, I agree with you about all the Book talk… let’s just keep it to Arizona talk and how great it will be when more kids from the east coast go to Arizona because they know how great it will be for them. Thanks for letting me use your internet.
/
Izzy / March 4, 2010
He spells everything out in caps because that’s the way he speaks. He’s a typical east coast guy – all bark, no bite. Pathetic.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
I would rather have Ray McCallum over Josh Selby any day. Yes, Selby is a little better, but Ray is at least a 2 year player whereas Selby is a one and done.
Arizona is obviously rebuilding and we need players that are going to be around for at least 2 years. By us landing Selby we are going to have to land another top point guard the following year.
Now, I wouldn’t complain if we got Selby, but in Arizona’s current situation we would be better off with someone like McCallum who will more than likely stick around for more than one year so we can build our foundation.
If we were in the position like Kansas where they are already stacked and have their recruiting pipeline in place, than a top one and done player would make more sense, but for Arizona I can’t see how it will help us build our program back up.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
I agree, all information points to Ray playing for his father. But the only reason I would see Kansas really pushing for Ray is if Self knows that Knight is staying in Florida and that Selby will more than likely choose Kentucky over Kansas if Knight does stay.
From what I’ve seen on ESPN, Knight is suppose to make his decision after his season is over which is suppose to be either this week or next week. Than the dominos will start falling and we’ll see where everyone lands. Till than, its just speculation with no hard evidence of ANY players true leaders.
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
Get a little more informed before you start taking garbage! The Pac10 is down yes, but for good reason! It will be back next year.
If you haven’t noticed, its all about cycles in the NCAA. One year the ACC will be dominate, than the Big East, than the Pac10, etc. No league stays on top year in and year out. That’s all due to losing players, and no league has suffered more losses than the Pac10 this year.
And if you’re sick and tired of reading comments from Arizona fans, than why in the HELL are you on a comment section about Arizona leading for Jack? If you don’t want to hear our opinions, only read the articles that don’t have to do with Arizona.
And since numerous reports have Kansas and Arizona leading for Selby, than you better get use to us taking about our chances.
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
HEY IZZY I SPELLED IT IN CAPS TO YOUR ATTENTION, I’ll ask your opinion when I want It better yet with a name like Izzy keep It to yourself. I am aware we are on the net but these ” Sports Junkies” seem like they are bent on analyzing where thses kids are going and who is behind them going there. Ten times out of Ten they never see these kids play and pay 10$ a month to those “Geniuses” over at Rivals or Scout.com then go in a forum or to a blog and tell other people they are going to whatever school is supposedly high on that list. Sounds kind of stupid to me, Its only march let these guys finish their state tourneys and then we will see whats what, not these pretentious stories about how you heard on Rivals that Jack Is going to your school because of championships you won 20 years ago…

HallBall / March 4, 2010
Also, to comment on that rather outlandish statement about the Pac-10 turning out more NBA players than the Big East, Are you stupid? First of all half of the players that turned out be from Pac-10 to go to the leauge were from the eastcoast. Secondly, specifically tell me what draft did the Pac-10 have more lottery picks than the Big East or the ACC? Not trying to slight the Pac-10 but the Big 12 is westcoast basketball right now, or the closest thing to westcoast ball at least. Pac-10 was always and will forever be a football conference leave the roundball to us. And please find another excuse on why the Pac-10 Is a joke because that NBA quote would make the average college basketball fan laugh….LOL
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
Wow, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about and NOW have lost all creditability.
Here is an insider article by ESPN analyst Doug Gottlieb…
Title – “NBA Talent Drain Has Caught Up to Pac10”
First paragraph in the article..
“Why is the Pac-10 so down? In the past two seasons, the league has had 21 players drafted, 13 of whom were selected in the first round. The next closest leagues in terms of losing NBA talent are the ACC, Big 12 and Big East (all of which have more teams, mind you). Each of those leagues has seen 13 players drafted in the past two seasons — total. Only nine have been taken from the SEC, and five — yes, five — from the Big Ten.” – Doug Gottlieb

haha im sure the name fits, you caught me so quickly with one post on the internets! Unfortunately for you, im actually an arizona fan. I’ve read this board for a while, back when it was pretty much just jessie and woody going back and forth. Since then, its become a bunch of arizona “fans” who come on, spout a bunch of nonsense and then say BOOK IT as though that guarantees something.
Theres a lot of stupid stuff said about arizona, the pac10 and so on. Arizona fans dont help it by going out and spouting off to the rest of the world. We’ve been great for 25 years, and now were having a down year clearly. Just wait for the team to come back as we know it will and let that do your talking. This trash talking that goes on and on is pointless.
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
Oh God, here we go again another Arizona ( Im guessing really dont care) fan and his theory about how the “NBA took all the good plyers from the Pac-10, and thats the reason they are grabage”. This just goes to show me how much you Arizona fans views are so farfetched and so dumb you actually start to beleive what you’re saying actually makes sense to everyone else. The Pac-10 sucks because no one whats to go there besides the guys from the westcoast. Think about It would you want to rather play for Lute Olson or Sean Miller? The coaching is down and thats why recruits from the east and the south arent attracted to the schools in the Pac-10. Then we go back to the Big East thing, so because we have more teams than the Pac-10 thats the only reason we have more competition? No, Its because we have the coaches, the schools, the arenas, the tv exposure and excellent talent on the eastcoast that for the most Is aware that the Big East and even the ACC have good levels competition. You keep reading stories from Doug Gottlieb ( A guy who didnt play his college ball in the Pac-10) and keep trying to find the answer to the Pac-10’s problem, oh wait I just told you!
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
bwahahahahaha
You are comparing YOUR thoughts and B.S. to a man who has the inside track in ALL of college basketball and is a paid ESPN analyst? Did I read that right? lol OMFG!
A professional ESPN analyst just told you why the Pac10 is down, supported his claim with evidence and yet he is wrong but you are right? You are more qualified because you’re some random dude behind a keyboard who has backed his ridiculous claim with NO evidence? OK bro what are your credentials and where do you get your information?!
The Pac10 is down because we are young..period! When you have a constant turnaround of NBA players it hits the league really hard. Almost every Pac10 team is dominated by freshmen and sophomores. Next year the league as a whole will be a hell of a lot better due to having more experience.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out!
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
Wow, Doug Gottlieb Is a paid Analyst for ESPN I would have never guessed that. LOL! So I guess If he wasnt working for ESPN, he wouldnt be a random “DUDE” behind a keyboard just like me?! LOL! You sound so ignorant to the fact It scares me, guess Its that UA education (If you actually attend the school). Doug Gottlieb never head coached a day in his life nor does he know how to put together a powerhouse basketball program. Granted he played for OSU so he knows about the game but how serious can I take his word on why the Pac-10 sucks, when every “paid ESPN analyst” has said everything I have been saying in the past posts. Im not claiming to be Doug Gottlieb, I could careless about if my arguments appeal to you but I do know that the Pac-10 will be down until they get some quality coaches to attract recruits to those programs out there. Maybe I should get hired by ESPN because If I do maybe these guys would beleive my every word, I want your job Gottlieb! Smh Idiots!
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
No evidence huh? The Pac-10 doesnt even have a team in the Top 25, but I guess you knew that though. I dont need to write a story on the siuation ala Gottlieb, the AP Polls are proof enough for me and everyone that follows the game. The Big East and the Big XII are the toughest conferences hands down and will continue to be for a while thats all I’m saying, the Pac-10 is Ok but cant matchup with the rest of the power six conferences besides the Big Ten maybe…
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
Every other ESPN analyst said what you have been saying? Really, how about you post some evidence to that fact?
Everyone who knows anything about college basketball knows that the Pac10 is down because of its youth, new coaches have NOTHING to do with it.
When you have a league playing with 90% freshmen and sophomores (like the Pac10) and you’re going up against veteran teams who are more seasoned of course you are going to struggle.
Pac10 will be stronger next year and will be back on top in a couple years, watch! Experience beats youth almost EVERY time!
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
Listen bozo! I’m not saying the Pac10 is a power conference this year! Yes, our league sucks this year! I’m not disputing that fact!
Where you and I are having a difference of opinion is WHY the Pac10 is down. You say coaching, which makes no sense and you provide no evidence to support that claim, and I and everyone else who KNOWS college basketball says its because of our youth and all the talent we have lost early to the NBA the last 2 years.
That is why we suck! Understand or do I need to spell it out in pink crayon?
/
Cali Hoops / March 4, 2010
Dude,
Your argument is weak. All you have to do is look at the quote:
“Why is the Pac-10 so down? In the past two seasons, the league has had 21 players drafted, 13 of whom were selected in the first round. The next closest leagues in terms of losing NBA talent are the ACC, Big 12 and Big East (all of which have more teams, mind you). Each of those leagues has seen 13 players drafted in the past two seasons — total. Only nine have been taken from the SEC, and five — yes, five — from the Big Ten.” – Doug Gottlieb (Keep in mind he played b-ball in the Big 12)
21 players from the Pac 10 vs. ACC, Big 12 and Big East – 13 players – that is over 60% more players from the Pac. When you look at the SEC and Big 10 it is evan more obvious. Those are all great conferences but it is obvious that the Pac has had much more success putting players in the NBA lately.
To say that this would not have an impact on the level of play is ignorant. Seems like you could have used some of that UofA schooling.. It might have taught you how to develop an argument..
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
No Thanks I’ll stick with getting my degree from the Seton Hall School Of Law, thanks very much. LISTEN BOZO! (Guess that means he was serious at the time Lol) your reason WHY the Pac-10 is down is more like an excuse to me considering that every team loses players every year. Who’s fault Is it the guys out there that the Pac-10 brings In have no intention to stay In school to pattern their game or more important earn a degree, Instead they jump to the leauge and thats It (reminds me of Tim Floyd and the whole USC OJ Mayo scandal) . I admire players like Scottie Reynolds (Villanova) Andy Rautins (Syracuse) D’Sean Butler (West Virginia) who actually stay in school and became finished NBA prospects instead of projects. When you have good coaches like Jim Calhoun, Jim Boeheim, Bob Huggins, Jay Wright, Bobby Gonzalez and John Thompson III, why would yyou wanna leave school early? Why is the Pac-10 down, ask programs like USC ” University Of Scandal and Corruption aka University Of Sorry Coaching!
/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
“When you have good coaches like Jim Calhoun, Jim Boeheim, Bob Huggins, Jay Wright, Bobby Gonzalez and John Thompson III, why would yyou wanna leave school early?”
Easy, its called money dummy! When you are 19 years old and you’re a lottery pick and you are going to get a guaranteed NBA contract worth 8 figures, its easy to leave school early. I mean who the hell wouldn’t?
Reminder 99% of these players dreams are to play in the NBA, and when you have millions of dollars flashing in front of your face its an easy decision. And NO degree in the world, I don’t care where you went to school, is going to pay more than what these young men will make in the NBA
Nuff said…

I bet that moron thinks KJack is gonna pick seton hall over Zona to. Man thats just to funny.
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
And that explanation Is exactly why the Pac-10 sucks because of that choice right there. The average NBA rookie contract (under this current CBA) is two years with an option for a third or fourth year, hmm that in some cases is the same amount of time maybe even shorter that It takes to get a degree so why not do It its not like you’re paying for your education at the moment. You’re 19 and a lottery pick you plan on going to the leauge why not stay three or the full four years to become an even more polished player, you think your stock will drop, if it does that means you didnt work hard enough not that you should have left sooner. Your NBA career can end in a second, a degree Is forever but you being from UA you would know that right?! Smh Genius!
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010

/
ZonaWildcat / March 4, 2010
Ever heard of injuries? If you are guaranteed huge 8 figure contract deals, plus endorsements, you take it.
After all, you can ALWAYS go back and get your degree, but you’re not ALWAYS going to be guaranteed an 8 figure contract.
/
PaulPierce / March 4, 2010
HallBall,…no need to tear down a school you don’t know much about.
I’m a Big East fan and my loyalties lie with that conference. However, I do appreciate watching other power conferences like the Pac 10. I like what Ben Howland’s done at UCLA..can’t argue with his success in turning around a program that Lavin drove into the ground. Sendack has done wonders with what he’s had to work with at Arizona State, and you must admit that UofA has out-recruited Seton Hall regardless of the amount player tenure.
Actually, I wouldn’t mind if Seton Hall brought in some players that stayed a couple of years before jumping to the NBA. Remember that Gonzalez was recruiting the right 5-star Blue-chip players (i.e. Demarcus Cousins, Devin Ebanks, Samardo Samuels to name a couple). Unfortunately, Gonzo just failed to land them.
I hope that Kadeem Jack sees the huge upside Seton Hall has next year with so many experienced players returning who showed marked improvement this season. The Pirates a legit chance to make a return to the Big East Championship, and a deep run in the NCAA’s.
Zags, keep up the good work and keep us informed on KJack!
/
UAWildcat / March 4, 2010
The reason the Pac 10 is down is simple 21 draft picks the last two years and 6 coaching changes in the past 2 years. When over half of the league has new coaches there will be some transition. Also you said nobody from the east coast wants to play in the Pac 10. You are worng again UA has Parrom and MoMo Jones both from NYC (pretty sure NYC is still an east coast city) plus Sidiki Johnson have verballed to UA and Angel Nunez will visit and of course Selby, Lamb and Jack are all considering UA. Also there is plenty of talent on the west coast Terrence Jones, Josh Smith, Daniel Bejenaro, Tony Woten, James Johnson to name a few high schoolers. Plus NBA talent form the west coast like Jason Terry, Mike Bibby, Brandon Roy, Marvin Williams, Nate Robinson, Jerryd Bayless, Brandon Jennings etc. This little nugget may hurt you the most U of A’s law school is ranked 43rd in the country vs. Seton Hall’s law school being ranked 77th by US News.
/
HallBall / March 4, 2010
Uh, Paul who are you to tell me what I do and dont know about, I watch college basketball PERIOD I just think the Pac-10 as a whole is not a good conference. I know they have some programs with rich history but lately what teams from the Pac or Big Ten has made a deep run In the Ncaas? I just love the Big East and Its gritty, fast-paced style of play not to mention the media coverage the Big East gets nationally. The ACC and Big XII are good too the SEC is decent besides UK and Vandy Its irrelevant in Ncaa talk. Gonzo recruited DeMarcus Cousins hmm thats odd, I never heard of that maybe Zags blogged about It or how Gonzo pushed for Samuels while we were actually trying to land Herb Pope which we did. Listen, Gonzo may not recruit these “one and doners” (Hey John Wall) but we are good on the trail, Kadeem Jack will be a good addition and Dermon Player works wonders with big men hopefully Kadeem will land in a pirate uinform a play at The Rock, (Prudential Center In Newark, NJ) for the basketball impaired. LOL

Nothing wrong for attending seton hall, but for you to try to make it sound like its a much better place to play bball is just idiotic. Zona is in a different Universe than your school. I mean your in a decent conference but its like OSU trying to say their good cause all the success UCLA and Zona have had in the Pac-10. I mean honestly, if KJack is being offered to play ball at UA and at SH, which one will he pick? And you actually contradict yourself, on previous posts you say the only reason the Pac-10 has had any players drafter (21 btw, 8more than anyone else) is because their from the “east” coast, then thats because they obviously look and want to play in the west coast.

First of all before you try to make a valid argument use spellcheck please. Big East is not a decent conference Its the best, and yes If “K Jack” gets offered from Seton Hall I would expect him to eventually land with us. I notice you keep bringing up this eastcoast thing listen, I didnt say every eastcoast player will play for a eastcoast school I said the westcoast schools mainly the Pac-10 will suffer because they will not attract the eastcoast recruits they used to due to the downtrot In competition. Eastcoast guys just play ball they could careless about the history of Arizona, or how nice the weather Is in July out there. Half of the Eastcoast guys choose a westcoast school due to lack of playing time they would get at a eastcoast school, If Knight would land at UConn you think Selby would go there too, NO. Its all about whos gonna play and how soon, not because Sean Miller Is supposedly the next Lute Olson (Yeah Right) or because Arizona Is just the place to be.
