  • Knight Decision Coming ‘Sometime Soon’

The No. 1 high school prospect in the nation could be close to announcing his college choice, setting the dominoes falling for the top prep point guards.

Brandon Knight of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Pine Crest on Wednesday told the Orlando Sentinel he plans to announce “sometime soon.”

The 6-foot-4 Knight lists Florida, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn, and Miami as his final five.

“I’m pretty ready. I want to make sure I make the right decision,” Knight told the Sentinel after scoring 25 points in a 77-63 victory over Williston in a Florida Class 3A semifinal.

His father, Efrem Knight, recently told me there was no leader among the schools.

“Nobody’s leading. Brandon can flourish at any one of the schools that he’s going to,” Efrem Knight said by phone. “It still where it’s been. He’s considering all the same schools.”

Knight is part of a group of elite senior guards who has yet to  announce a school.

Fellow McDonald’s All-Americans Cory Joseph, Josh Selby and Doron Lamb remain uncommitted.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” one Division 1 assistant coach said. “It’s just odd because all these guys are point guards.”

The coach said he believed Knight’s delay in announcing was holding up the other guards, who are waiting to see what he does.

“My thing is this, if you want to go to Kentucky then say you’re going there,” the coach said. “[Kentucky coach John] Calipari really wants Brandon Knight and I think Coach Cal is holding everyone up.”

Kentucky will lose John Wall to the NBA Draft and could lose fellow freshman Eric Bledsoe as well, meaning he would need at least one elite guard to  come in. Calipari recently went to scout Joseph at Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep, but Joseph’s top five schools remain UConn, Villanova, Texas, UNLV and Minnesota.

Lamb is considering UConn, Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona and West Virginia.

Selby lists Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona and UConn.

Knight, Joseph and Lamb have all taken their five official visits, but none has committed.

“Everyone’s looking at what [Calipari] does,” the coach said.

    • My guess is,

      Knight> Kentucky
      Selby> Zona
      Lamb> Kansas
      Joseph> UCONN

The Selby/Lamb combo could be vice versa either way. And its a possibilty they both commit to the same school being Arizona or Kansas. Joseph to UCONN can be a bit sketchy cause of the coaching questions there.

    • WOW. Everyone is waiting on Calipari. UK gets who they want and Kansas and Arizone can fight over the scarps :-p

Jokes apart, I don’t think that is the case… UK is sweating it out as much as the other schools.. but it does seem like Knight is headed to UK and Selby to Kansas.

If Knight goes to one of the FL schools, I think Calipari is capable of landing Selby.

      Let’s see.. should end soon…

    • Fantasy baseball league on espn.com if anyone is interested. It is a head to head private league and the league name and password are both zagsblog. The draft is monday march 8th at 8:45 est time and anyone is welcome. If interested use your name from zagsblog as your team name so everyone knows whos who.
      8 spots left .

    • what the hell are table scarps UK?

    • I think you meant to write “Joseph’s top five schools remain UConn, Villanova, Texas, UNLV and Minnesota,” rather than “Joseph’s top five schools reaming UConn, Villanova, Texas, UNLV and Minnesota.”

Anyway, great entry; thanks for the information. I hope UConn lands one of the guards they’re chasing or I think they might struggle next season.

    • Sorry, meant scraps not scarps

    • Knight=UK
      Selby=KU
      Lamb=UA
      Joseph=UCONN

But I’m guessing like everybody else here. Watch Knight pick Florida & we all start sweating it out.

    • Why is Miami always on these final lists of these elite players? They never land anyone . Must be one hell of a recruiting trip.

    • Calipari is the hold up because no one is sure if he will be there next year. Having a friend on the compliance committee at UK, I know Calipari is not happy and rightly he shouldn’t be. I am not a fan of his and never have been. He is not worth the fall we will suffer when he is gone and that day is coming. This is all ridiculous and people should get used to this.

Last, UK is not a good road team and UK fans need to realize, and I will put my money on this, UK will not make it past the Elite 8. More than one person is worried about this on the staff and that is a big motivation Calipari is looking elsewhere already. He didn’t have to worry about this pressure at Memphis and won’t in the pros. Just goes to show how ignorant UK fans really are.

pastaboy you are still a moron

    • Why isn’t Calipari happy?

Funny, I’ve wondered this myself. He seems to have lost a little spark as the season progressed. I thought it was his players (i.e., Cousins and Wall) who he was tired of. But something definitely does not seem right there.

Didn’t Gopher Coach say it’s one of the hardest places to coach with the booster pressure and all the other junk?

    • Yeah, Comment …you are an Outsider…you don’t know squat about Coach Cal, only what the “taling heads” tell you and you lap it up like the dog you are….are you really Pat Forde, the hack that thinks he is a sports journalist , but in real life is just a Pitino ass kisser…I bet you are Pat Forde!! Coach Cal has never , ever been implicated in any wrong doing at any school….and I dare you to prove it….prove it big guy!!! You can’t and you know it!!

You must be from Memphis, jerksnot!

Coach Cal will be at UK for many, many years and he and his CATS will hang many National Championship banners….mark my word….and it will start THIS year!!!

Now go back to your hole and suck your thumb, dickweed!

I’m calling your bluff on the Elite 8 bet to chump!!!!

    • Calipari is a cheat and it is only a matter of time before he is caught. But this time, he will be banned from College basketball for life and there goes his buddy WWW. And he will not last very long in the pros either as he can not coach a team on equal footing and there is a salary cap and thing are not run like they are with unlimited budget at UK!

    • Hey Outsider, there is no committee…there is Sandy Bell. You might want to tell her she is on a committee. You are the moron my friend. We have two loses and they are both on the road, so we are not a good road team. Kansas has two road loses, Syracuse has two loses and they are at home. You are definitely a hater of Cal and that is fine, but you do not know what you are talking about. Shut Up!

    • Joseph isn’t going to Uconn. Joseph will be attending Villanova.

    • Think B Knight will go to KY.

      Selby to KU.

Joseph to UConn, Calhoun is back for sure.

Lamb is up in the air right now…

    • Think B Knight will go to KY.

      Selby to KU.

Joseph to UConn, Calhoun is back for sure.

Lamb is up in the air right now…

    • “Joseph to UConn, Calhoun is back for sure.”

You sure about that? I have two words for you; Lute Olson.

Calhoun obviously has some serious heath issues that he’s not disclosing, and that worries recruits. I don’t see UCONN in the lead for ANY of these players.

All the other coaches are guaranteed to be there for the next several years, is Calhoun? Even if he did come back next year there is not guarantee he’ll be back the following year.

As he gets older, his health isn’t going to improve, its going to get worse. I know it sucks to hear, but Calhoun has had a great career but its time to retire and enjoy his family and friends.

    • No, all the recruits are waiting on Knight! Calipari is waiting as well!

I think this backfires on Calipari. He’s been open in saying that he wants Knight and everyone else is his second choice, I don’t think that sits well with the other players.

I think Knight stays in Florida, Selby goes to Kansas, Lamb to Arizona, and Calipari goes into desperation mode. Maybe why he’s trying to get in on Joseph so late in the game. If he knew he had either Selby or Knight locked up, why go after another player who wasn’t even on his radar a few weeks ago?

    • Dude, where there’s smoke there is fire!

For a coach to have 2 SEPARATE SCHOOLS vacate their ENTIRE season and FINAL 4 appearances is just crazy. Hell even Bob Knight called Calipari out on that.

And just because there isn’t hard evidence doesn’t prove his innocence, it just shows the man is smart and knows how to cover his tracks!

You can sit here with your head so far up Calipari’s ass all you want, but everyone knows for a coach to do that with 2 SEPARATE schools when no one else in the history of the game has done that, shows what a sleazeball he really is.

And you better believe money talks with Calipari. If an NBA team comes a calling, hes gone.

    • Maybe Calipari doesn’t have as much control as he would like. The Kentucky program is bigger than Calipari the coach, at Memphis Calipari WAS the program.

    • Um…You said that already

    • or maybe rival fans and haters need to make something up about cal to feel better about their own program because they know uk will be getting 3, 4, or 5 top 25 kids every year.

uk will be a consistent top 5, top 10 team and why face reality when its easier and feels better to believe some made up story that gives hope for the future.

      cal unhappy…comical. lol

    • 3,4, or 5 Top 25 kids every year huh? That’s a pretty bold prediction seeing how you only have 1 Top 100 player signed right now and you aren’t guaranteed ANY of the prospects thinking of going to Kentucky.

    • Enough with the GUESSES….

You were told big news was coming.
      And AZ is delivering.

      Two big questions…
When will Cali go to the NBA?
After the tournament or next year……
This is WHY everyone is waiting…

Our boyz AZ already gave you a hint…
Knight to UK….Another major loss by Self.
Barnes and now Knight. And these are just the recent failures.

Doron Lamb will NOT go to Kansass.
      We all know this already.

Does Josh Selby decided to go to Kansas “Gangster U” or ARIZONA.
ARIZONA seems like the right fit.
      BOOK IT.

Corey will not go to U Conn.
Who ever said this is just WAY OUT there.
      Did you forget!!!
When Corey did the visit, CJ was minutes away from being involved with that horrible incident. The one that took the life of a young man.
If coach had not stayed and talked to Corey that night…CJ would of been in the thick of things.
Basically- CJ visit to UConn was a disaster. MAJOR DISASTER.
AND CJ will NOT go to UConn.

      Lew- time to step up….

    • The Cal haters don’t hold the consensus view, and that’s their right. They have information the rest of us don’t have about Cal’s “hookups” and “shady dealings” and about Cal “not being happy”. If only these haters would share these details with someone who could do something about it. Someone who could investigate the cheating, blow the lid off this whole thing and have Cal banned from coaching in the college ranks ever again.

Please tell us that you have shared your information with the NCAA. They need to know about this stuff. It’s important! What’s that? Why the heck not? How can you just sit there and allow that … that coach to get away with it? You don’t want to be an enabler, do you? You have a chance here, Cal haters, to correct a grave injustice. Stand up, do the right thing and report what you know to the NCAA.

What’s that, haters? You don’t really have anything to report? You just want to spread innuendo and make unsubstantiated allegations on message boards? As long as people don’t know who you are. Oh. I see. Well, that’s disappointing. You got us all worked up there. So what you’re saying is, maybe we should get our news from more reliable sources. Okay, good to know. Sorry about all that.

    • When it comes to getting the right recruit, it involves alot of REACHING OUT.

WIthout the help of those REACHING OUT, nothing can be accomplished.

Knight to UK. (if Cali does not leave or….)
      Josh Selby to Arizona
      Doron Lamb to Arizona.
Yes, Arizona wants both and both fit real well.

The time for BOOK+ is upon us.

      BOOK+

    • Knight to UK or KU
      Selby to KU
      Lamb to WV
Arizona gets NOONE because they are garbage, irrelivant, and NIT bound..HA.
Who the hell would want to play for them

    • The rumor is out there that Selby wants to be mentored by a legit, up and coming elite coach, who was a point guard himself. Also, that he likes Nike over Adidas. Don’t know who that is though.

    • Also, heard a rumor that Selby likes tan, fit, smokin hot chicks. Not fat, pale, hairy, smelly inbreds. It’s Arizona folks.

    • Yeah because AZ ranks in Playboy’s top 10 hottest college campuses! LOL I give you 1 guess where UK ranks! Here’s a hint, it’s better than Zona!

    • Sounds kinda like Josh Pastner, I wouldn’t say he’s elite yet, but up and coming definitely and Memphis has major ties to Nike. The problem is Memphis has enough guards, also, and I may be mistaken, but I think they’ve reached the limit of scholarships they can award for an incoming class.

That said, I’m sure there are a few other coaches who probably fit said description, Pastner just happens to be coaching the team I follow.

    • Hate to break it to you, but Ashley Judd is only one chick, who is pretty much sloppy seconds at this point. I think Rupp and Phog should sponsor a “Razor Day”, sponsored by Bic Ladies, to trim up the leg prickles, chin fuzz, and pimp stashes (dark hair on pale skin hides nothing).

Chicks go to UK or KU in order to become like the landlord on Kingpin.

    • just learning how to post.

    • I definitely agree with this, just when I think Calipari couldnt get any lower than being apart of a scandal that cost Memphis a final four apperance, he jumps ship (reminds me of Lane Kiffin) and leaves Pastner to clean up his wrong doings and Memphis is paying for It this Year. Now he is ” Kentucky Basketball” are you guys drunk or high, pick one. Calipari is not a coach he is a baby sitter, a coach grooms his kids to be better ball players and mature adults, not coach kids to the leauge in 1 when they have the slightest clue on how to play college ball still. John Wall will be the number 1 pick in this years draft, but I have a question for you guys will it be because of his god givin talent before he enrolled at UK or because of Cal’s coaching this year? Think on that, you know the answer!!

    • Roscoe Smith and another recruit also visited the wknd of the incident you’re referring to… gee, where did they commit?

    • Yeah hillbilly girls with missing teeth are hot!

    • That has Arizona written ALL over it.

Sean Miller is a young coach who has already had tremendous success in his short tenure as a head coach, and he was also a standout (starting point guard) at Pitt for 4 years.

I love Josh Pastner, he bleeds red and blue, but elite? The guy was a walk on at Arizona and never played. He will be a great coach one day, but he has a lot to learn.

Miller not only talks the talk, he’s walks the walk. The experience he has as a player AND a coach is very valuable for player like Selby.

    • Especially when they are in their double wide trailer, barefoot, frying something.

    • This is only a rumor – but what I have heard is that it is Coach Cal’s family that does not like UK. His oldest daughter liked U of M, but transferred to UK, only to quickly transfer out to the East coast after one semester. And his wife doesn’t appreciate the constant harrassment of fans all times day or night. I agree that Coach Cal was the athletic program at Memphis, which was really the fault of Memphis’ AD.

    • Demarcus Cousins…has he been coached this year? Think on that, you know the answer!! You guys need to root on your team and quit worrying about others. Geez!

    • Blood is thicker than water.

      If mom isn’t happy…

    • Where are you all hearing all this crap( rumors )? I work and live next to campus. You hear nothing negative out of the team. Rumors about him coaching Lebron…Hey, I give you that one. All this other stuff is just stupid. Believe me if these rumors were floating around about him being unhappy and his team having problems…us in Lexington would know.

    • Naa, you in Lexington are blind and in denial. This is legit transition stuff that is bound to happen when you uproot a family into a lion’s den.

    • What possibly could we (fans) be harrassing his family about. He is 28-2, raised over 1 million dollars for Haiti, got our program to 2000 wins, and owns the state. It is not a lion’s den this year, but it could quickly be..I will be the first to admit. I wish you so called fans would show as much passion and energy for your team than wasting it on trashing Cal and UK. I thought UK fans were delusional.

    • dont pay any attention. people just like make up stuff to start crap to get a reaction from uk fans and at the same time make them self feel better.

    • Now THIS got me WEAK! LOL

    • Follow the money. Joseph is going to Texas.

    • UConn will get one of these guys. I mean why do all top 4 remaining guards have the huskies on their list if they aren’t strongly considering the school? These Lute Olsen predictions are premature and I know Roscoe Smith and Jeremy Lamb would agree with me. Rivals and Scout already has UConn in the Top 15 2010 classes and the addition of one or two of these guys will propel them close to the top. Calhoun’s not leaving till he makes at least one more Final Four run.

    • I dunno, I used to think the same, but then one day I opened the paper and read Coach Cal was going to Kentucky, just sayin.

    • I don’t know ask Jason Terry , Jaryd Bayless, Andre Iguadala, Mike Bibby, Agent Zero, and the rest of the alumns in the NBA. Beautiful town, weather, girls and most importantly Basketball tradition. After 25 years, we had to have a hiccup sooner or later.

    • Don’t be ridiculous ZonaWildcat…those girls don’t know how to fry…

    • Lute Olson*

And hate to break it to you, i highly doubt you’ll land any of the top guards left. Maybe we won’t either you never know with 17yr olds but, i hope we at least land one of them hopefully two.

    • Arizona sucks and the whack 10 sucks!!

Why go to the westcoast and only be seen on fsn, when you can go to a national powerhouse and be on ESPN night in and night out.

Ask Sherron Collins what KU did for him? Enough said.

    • Im not a UK fan but this Zona guy makes me laugh. I have read about ten posts of your rants about how UK and KU wont land Selby, what makes you think Arizona will? Sean Miller Isnt Self or Coach Corrupt himself Calipari and the Pac-10 doesnt get enough airtime on ESPN or CBS to actually attract these eastcoast guys. KU, UK or Uconn will be major players for Selby or Knight or whoever, you just have to know its coming…

    • BINGO!!!! I knew I wasnt the only one who felt the same way. The Wack 10. LOL I tried to say the same thing to these Arizona boneheads earlier. The reason why the Pac is wack is because they cant attract these eastcoast guys to their programs like the Big East and Big XII can. They Pac-10 has not had a team in the Top 25 all year, the Atlantic 10 has a ranked team hell even Butler from the Horizon Leauge Is ranked. Bottom line Arizona is not the recruiting magnet It once was and unless the Pac-10 Improves as a whole, you wont see any big time national recruits want to sign with the Cats or any else in that irrelevant conference. Have fun on FSN! Fear the Phog go to the Abraham and Selby Posts to see the Pac-10 argument I had with these clowns…

    • He left memphis for KENTUCKY! ‘Nuff said

    • LOL, and you don’t think he’d leave Kentucky for New York and Lebron James? Sorry, but Kentucky doesn’t compare to the Knicks in prestige or money. Memphis fans have had to learn to accept the reality of such things when we were spurned for the bluegrass pastures of Kentucky. It’s a bitter pill to be certain, so before you say “Nuff said”, be prepared for the possibility of eating those words. Kentucky may be a big fish in the college ranks, but they are not in the same pond as the Knicks, Lakers or Celtics. Such is the reality of things, but it’s up to you if you and other Kentucky fans to accept it or not. For me and other Memphis fans, Coach Cal is long gone, it doesn’t make the least bit of difference to us where he goes from here on out.

    • The Cal haters don’t hold the consensus view, and that’s their right. They have information the rest of us don’t have about Cal’s “hookups” and “shady dealings” and about Cal “not being happy”. If only these haters would share these details with someone who could do something about it. Right on!!! All these jerks can do is spew crap they hear from talking heads…nothing more…they don’t know squat…Cal is clean, clean, clean…and so is UK….a bunch of paper tigers and their keyboards think they know it all….probably 15 years old and/or fat asses that never played the game!!! Remember Comment….I took your bet chump….Eliete 8….!!! See you later Ceeza…hang tough…take the charge…..and posterize these haters!!!

    • I don’t mean to offend Sarah Palin, but HallBall, do you realize how retarted you sound. You are saying that no big time recruit is going to sign with the PAC 10. While you were watching the NBA Draft the last couple years, did you notice that every other first round pick attended a PAC 10 school. First off, do you think the PAC 10 is going to be great when every single team lost their star player. ASU lost Harden, Zona lost Budinger and Hill, and Stanford lost the Lopez twins a few years back.

Every single one of those guys, with the exception of Hill were McDonald’s All Americans. So of course the PAC 10 is going to be down this year. And when it comes to producing NBA Talent in the last 20+ years , no other school in the US matches Arizona except for maybe Duke, who might have produced 1 more pick. And if Arizona was irrelivent, than why are two of the highest rated recruits considering us. If one doesn’t commit to Zona, the other will.

Arizona is never going to be irrelivent because of all the current NBA Stars we have including Arenas and they all pitch in to Arizona basketball. Just a few years ago, Richard Jefferson donated 5 million dollars to help build a new state of the art gym. And according to Forbes.com, Arizona comes in 6th nationally in the net value of our basketball team. Money only takes you so far but that is fine since we have a coach that matches anyone in the country.

You can believe whatever you want to believe but I guarantee you that if Arizona and the PAC 10 truly were irrelivent, Josh Selby would not be comtemplating on whether to go to a school ranked 2nd or 3rd in the country against a school that is a game above .500. I think that sums it up.

    • When ever you have a team in Miami, the city almost sells better than the team, i mean think about it. People go to California schools more for the location, than what they will be learning/ playing….anyways if knight doesn’t go to UK, then all bets are off. BUT, i don’t see that as happening–even with Coach cal’s history or effing up programs–it’ll be interesting once knight does choose, because there will be that 24-48 hour window, where UA, KU, Uconn coaches will be all over selby, lamb, and joseph and they may choose by who’s least annoying

    • We/UA don’t need ESPN/cbs airtime when all of our coaches are from the east coast. I think i would rather meet a coach, than see a coach on tv. I mean thats just my logic, others on this site don’t seem to have it but what ever….sean miller is one of the best at using what he’s got (and it wasn’t much at Xavier) and turning them into Elite 8 teams–just think, what if he had soem top 50 players in those classes? Final 4, championship game-Winner/loser– miller just has to show his 650+winning percentage with scrubs and he’s in the hunt with the big boys

    • Arizona is actually ahead of Duke by 1 draft pick over the last 20 YEars

      School Picks Lottery
      Arizona (Picks 30) (Lottery 10)
      Duke— (Picks 29) (Lottery 14)
      UCLA— (Picks 28) (Lottery 5)
      Kansas- (Picks 22) (Lottery 7)
      UNC—- (Picks 22) (Lottery 11)

    • NBA = NothingButArizona

    • You Arizona Keep saying the same damn thing, ” Well We have the most draft picks In the leauge” Who cares? Im talking about as of right now the Pac-10 only has one team on the “Bubble” of the NCAA Tourney talk, ONE TEAM! As people stated In the post before me no one really watches your games outside of your time zone so who really cares about the Pac-10 besides you Arizona boneheads? The Big East, Big XII, ACC even the SEC will lose talent this year and I will bet any amount of money that none of those conferences will have dropoff years like the Pac-10’s last two and wont use the draft as the reason why the play Is down. Granted I guess the Pac-10 did lose some players but thats why you recruit right? Big East doesnt have this problem nor does the Big XII, when someone declares for the draft we have recruits to replace them. Look at Syracuse losing Hakim Warrick and McNamara In the same year , they had Johnny Flynn and Andy Rautins ready to go the following year. Villanova lost Kyle Lowry and Randy Foye, next year they had Scotty Reynolds waiting to take over along with Corey Fisher and Corey Stokes. Kansas lost Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers, they had Sherrod Collins and now Xavier Henry to follow in the years to come. MY point Is everyone loses talent not just you guys so dont feel like the Pac-10 has the most talent year In and out because that Is definitely not the case. Advise the Pac-10 should take, dont just recruit for this year recruit for the future because when you dont, you end up having the Cal Bears with a chance to win your conference championship. LOL Ask Tim Floyd and USC how It feels to have a one and done recruit. (OJ MAYO)

    • NBA= No Ones Broadcasting Arizona, well besides Fox Sports West! Lol

    • Sorry fella, I honestly can’t take you seriously with moot points SPEWING out of your comments. As a Memphis fan I wouldn’t expect you to understand what it’s like to have one of the, if not THE most historic, prestigious and winningest college bball programs of all time. I know it’s hard for you to grasp the fact that all mighty Memphis is utterly NOTHING without Cal, the proof is in the pudding. I like Paz, and wish him all the luck, but the last sentence in your comment is a contradiction. ‘For me and other Memphis fans, Coach Cal is long gone, it doesn’t make the least bit of difference to us where he goes from here on out.’ If that were the actual case, you wouldn’t be responding to me, period. If you have some sort of proof that FIRST Lebron is going to the Knicks, and SECOND that Cal is going to follow, please share your insight, until then, I won’t encourage you with any further responses. UK!

    • Also, being the man I am, I promise YOU and the rest of the posters here, that if Cal bolts for the Knicks & Lebron, I will indeed eat my words, and to be honest, wouldn’t mind one bit! LOL

    • cal just yesterday commented that he has no interest in working at “outposts” like he has the last 20 years. in his words he has a premium job and doesnt plan on coaching forever. he isnt going to leave a premium job for some NBA job where its likely he will get fired in 3 seasons because thats what the NBA does. he has a chance to go down as a legend and hall of famer at uk.

but i get why so many rivals and haters want him in the nba so badly. lol

    • ………..

    • Its easy to compare to the Lute Olson situation. Think about it; even if Calhoun comes back next year, do you really think he’s going to make it another 3 years after that?

These recruits coming in need to know that there coach will be there their entire tenure as a basketball player. As Nic Wise how it feels to have 4 coaches in 4 years! Not a good thing!

Calhoun is a great coach, a hall of fame coach, but the guy needs to really evaluate his health and do whats most important.

    • Here comes Hallball with his B.S. comments that make no sense but to him and the guy in his head he is having a conversation with!

No one is disputing the fact that the Pac10 is in a very very down year. Our league is VERY young bozo. Experience beats youth almost every time. Next year will be a different story, watch!

And yes, our old commissioner was a complete joke and had a garbage tv contract with FSN. That contract is up in 2011. Our new commissioner is in the process of making a deal with either CBS or NBC.

And like Selby’s mom said; if they weren’t interested in Arizona they wouldn’t have wasted an official visit on us and have us in his final 4. Nuff said!!

    • This HallBonehead still don’t get it!

Yes leagues lose players every year. The Big East and other big conferences lose players all the time, but not until their Junior or Senior year in college.

When you have players who stick around for 3 or 4 years it gives the classes below them time to adjust to the college game and learn from the upperclassmen. So by the time those guys graduate or go off to the NBA, your underclassmen are sophomores or juniors and have experience.

The problem the Pac10 is having is the fact that we had guys graduate and than their underclassmen instead of sticking around for 3 or 4 years to take over the reigns, left in 1 or 2 years. So we did recruit good players but our freshmen are having to start right away because their upperclassmen didn’t stick around long enough.

Look at Arizona; we have 1 senior, 1 junior, 5 sophomores, and 7 freshmen. There are about 5 other Pac10 teams who are dominated by sophomores and freshmen just like us.

So in a couple years our league will be old like the Big East, etc. and as a whole will be a lot better.

And for our players to go and get drafted in the first round after their freshmen or sophomore years just shows how much talent the Pac10 has recruited. If players can ball, than they take off in 1 or 2 years..period!

    • HallBall = FAIL

    • I say this as a KU fan, but more of a College Basketball fan, the Pac 10 is having a down year, but is still a power conference. anyone who doesnt think so is embarassing themselves right now (hallball)

UCLA just made 3 final fours in a row, Arizona is a terrific program who has had a down period after being very good earlier in the decade and is retooling, Washington, Stanford, USC and Cal are also good programs that are having dissapointing years.
this doesnt make the Pac 10 somehow inferior. its a good conference with a down year

      get over yourself

    • It doesn’t take much intelligence to realize HallBall is a delusional moron

    • Good grief you Kentucky fans have thin skin, I wasn’t even trying to work you into a tizzy, and yet here you are trying to “put me in place” and such (lol, spewing, seriously?). Look, no one but asshats will tell you Memphis is better than Kentucky, but I bleed Memphis blue so trying to alpha dog me about how your school is great and mine is crap will get you nowhere because I simply don’t care, I’ll root for Memphis til I die, win or lose.

Back to my original point in posting though, it’s this simple, Cal will only tell you what you want to hear, it’s his actions that will tell the truth. Example: “I want to stay in Memphis for the rest of my career”, meanwhile he’s househunting in Kentucky. If anything is to be learned from Memphis>Kentucky it’s this: keep the man at arms reach. Make no mistake about it, Kentucky is just an opportunity to him, if a bigger opportunity comes along then he’ll take it and that does mean another shot in the NBA, especially if he thinks he can get a team that’ll get to the Finals. This is where Lebron enters the equation, if King James doesn’t go to New York, it’s very unlikely Cal will either. Personally I don’t think Lebron will sign with New York, I never have.

I don’t speak for everyone either, I’m not hater of Cal or Kentucky, but Cal was in my town for nine years and I can speak from experience. Watch what he’s doing, not what he’s saying if you want to know the truth about the man and his intentions. I’m sure you thought you have a grasp on who I am or why I posted, but alas, the only reason I responded is because I’ve had firsthand experiece with Cal and am simply passing along lessons learned to you guys. If Kentucky want to turn a blind eye, then by all means do so, he’s your coach, not mine. And hey, if it makes you feel better, we in Memphis turned a blind eye for nine years ourselves, no one here should fault you for doing the same.

    • Actually its final two, everyone knows he’s going to Zona or KU. But please god don’t let mighty Seton Hall offer him a scholarship cause he might bolt both UA and KU for seton hall!

    • You know how retarded you are right? If your case was good it wouldn’t spell out NOBA? WHo plays there? All the seton hall draft picks?? LMFAO Well have fun in that league while UA draft picks dominate the NBA.

    • Lol I know right!

He should have said something like, “Not Broadcasting Arizona”

So I change my response from…

      HallBall = FAIL

      to

      HallBall = EPIC FAIL

    • Thank you jhawk4, finally someone besides me and one other Zona fan is calling this guy out for his ignorant posts.

    • Washington could be a program that could be really dangerous next year if they get the Terrence and Terrance show. They are the Huskies to lose at this point. SEC sucked last year, The ACC and Pac 10 are down this year…real fans know they will recover and recover quickly. Honestly, the SEC will get 5 or 6 schools in this year and we only deserve 3.

    • LOL this is just to funny. Do you think we should stop picking on poor seton hall alumns? Or is it just to much fun?? (This excludes AdamZag)

    • I’ll take moronic posts for $500 Alex. First of all ….you know no one at Ky. except maybe the guy who helps you park cars at Rupp Arena . Secondly Cal is very happy at Ky…. because he makes a bunch of money and wins and doesn’t have to grind for top players like he did at Memphis . Third , he will in all probability be a number 1 seed and make the final 4 . It must be difficult for little people like you to criticize a guy who is 163 and 16 in the past 5 years. LOL …… keep hating little man ….there’s a freight train heading your way .

    • When the best coach in basketball decides who he wants at PG next year…..it will all fall into place . Be patient please …..

    • Lute Olson is retired already

    • Chavito, don’t worry about HallBall. In his latest post, HallBall, said he hoped UCONN gets Selby. That was the moment he lost all cred. I am huge Zona fan and WOULD NEVER play for a player like that to attend UW or UCLA. That would make me look like a total loser. That is what you HALLBALL is. Seton Hall=toilet seat deuces.

Book That chump! Stop hating on Zona fans cause we are out in full force on a NY city blog lol. Imagine all the love out west…. Welcome home; Selby, Tucson, AZ!

Book +, as referred to by JessieWildcat.

    • Nothing to see here…

      N E X T

    • Agree with you CATintheAZ, HALLSBALLS is butthurt because of all the zona fans on zagsblog and he’s the only pirate in these waters. Recruits know we are passionate about our basketball in the desert. Selby to UCONN. Really?

    • Uh, Chavito I didnt realize “butthurt” was an actual word, you should spend less time worrying about the Arizona Wildcats and learn how to spell. Keep the homo comments yourself.

    • after reading all the arizona comments you would think knight was considering u of a. arizona fans comparing anything to ku and uk is like royals to anything yankees.

      book deez

    • The thing about It Is I dont care about Selby at all, you guys are on this blog just yapping away about how Selby is so infactuated with Arizona and you dont even know the guy. You’re the type of guy who pays Rivals or Scout monthly and whenever they break a story you take it all In and believe It then blog about how “your school” Is the favorite and for what reasons. Yes, I said If I want a school to land Selby It would be UConn, not beause I hate Arizona because I wouldnt mind a talent like that playing In the Big East. Seton Hall Is my team but I like the conference as a whole because of the competitiveness in every game, I dont care about who lands who because I have better things to worry about. You say youre a die-hard Arizona and you have this hatred for UCLA and Washington and would never want them to land a player the caliber of Selby’s but yet you defend the Pac-10 in every post above. So Im trying to figure out are you really a fan of the Pac-10 or just a hell bent Arizona fan who just contradicted himself in his previous posts?

    • No you still dont get It, ZonaCat or whatever your name Is. Your stating the reason why the Pac-10 Is down Is because your underclassmen leave for the leauge early, Wow really, I never knew that! Who’s fault Is It that they leave early mine, blame your coaches for not urging these kids to stay In school and pattern their games like the kids In the Big East, Big XII and the ACC lately. Money plays a big a role too but when you have a coach like Coach K, Jim Boeheim, Jim Calhoun or Roy Williams that will tell you your not ready to leave and actually build you into a better pro prospect than you were as a freshman it makes all the sense In the world to stay. You Pac-10 guys keep talking about your drafted players and have a valid argument I cant argue with numbers but how many of them do you think will stay In the leauge long enough to be stars. Micheal Beasley, OJ Mayo, Nate Robinson are all good players but look at someone like Marcus Williams ( HE’S FROM “ZONA”) he was drafted by the Spurs and where Is the guy now. Youve got your opinions just like I have mine and then there Is a little thing called common sense which I know I have, cant say the same about some of you.

    • Its obvious you dont even attend UA or any school for that much, lol “this Is TOO funny” is what you meant right? Smh where do you find these morons Adam?

    • “Money plays a big a role too but when you have a coach like Coach K, Jim Boeheim, Jim Calhoun or Roy Williams that will tell you your not ready to leave and actually build you into a better pro prospect than you were as a freshman it makes all the sense In the world to stay.”

Wow I actually agree with you on something! Lute Olson was the same way, he told it how it was and of course the decision was the players but Olson’s influence impacted the player’s decision greatly.

But at the end of the day, when a kid from a poor family is guaranteed millions of dollars and ,in today’s economy, its hard to turn down.

But the level of talent that was drafted is hard to argue that they should have stayed in school when they were clearly ready to go pro.

You use Marcus Williams as an example; its true the guy wasn’t ready. Lute Olson told him, the fans told him, and now we are all saying, “I told you so”. But 90% of the players who left early the last 2 years were ready to go pro. Our league we’ll be back in full force in 2 years, improved next year but in full force in 2.

    • Marcus Williams is the perfect example of leaving early but it had nothing to do with what coach he had or what school he was at. There was not one coach in the country that could have convinced Williams to stay. He was just a player with a huge ego and it ended up hurting him in the long run.

I think the easiest way to solve this problem is to just let players go straight from high school to the NBA. Now I know it may upset John Cal and UK fans but it would work out a lot better than what we have now. If a high school recruit decides he wants to enter the draft let him. And if he chooses college, force him to stay till his junior season is over, just like they do it in College Baseball.

    • Spelling errors? Thats your biggest comeback/debate? Really? Cause “Smh” is a real word right? Plus its obvious you ain’t got a head so why put it

    • It just shows how passionate UA fans are all over the country. Sorry your team ain’t got followers, just bandwagoners.

    • UofA beat kentucky in 97′ title game and kansas and unc all 1 seeds (only schaool ever) thats ELITE.
Its more like comparing the dbacks to the yankees.
and yes we beat them to.

    • UK-knight
      KU-McCallum
      Zona-selby&lamb
      Uconn-nobody
      Nova-Joseph

    • Selby-KU
      The rest-I don’t care

    • That’s what I’m hoping for but that is a VERY long shot of happening.

I would love a player like Selby, but in all honestly Arizona would benefit more from a player like McCallum.

We are obviously rebuilding and we need to build on a foundation and a one and done player like Selby is a short term fix. McCallum will be around for at least a couple years and is just as talented as Selby in my opinion.

    • yaa, memphis is really struggling without Cal, we only have the number one recruiting class in the country… He might have brought our program back to relevance, but we don’t need him anymore. Good luck dealing with all of his post-season drama, like flirting with other schools for more money(or NBA in your case) or ncaa allegations. Dont get me wrong, Cal is the man, but he’s alot to put up with.

    • your opinion means nothing zona wildcat if you You McCallum is =Selby?

im sure you have never seen either play so what are you basing this on highlight videos?
I’ve seen McCallum play and he is definetely under-rated on rivals but every other website has him where he belongs top 35ish. The best part of Ray’s game is he is so smart on the court and you cant teach what he can do but Selby is a man child who can score where he wants when he wants and he is a lottery lock.
As far as McCallum being a better get for the program I dont know, Selby would open the flooded gates at Zona again but I would be more than satisfied if we land Ray.

    • He finally comes to his senses, Wow!!!!

    • When has the last time the D’Backs been to a World Series? Oh, that fluke loop single In 2001 right?! Lol Comparing the Yankees and the D’Backs Is like comparing a Ferrari to a Volvo. Year In and Out the D’Backs struggle to win the NL West but cant and miss the playoffs while the Yankees are In contention every year for not only the AL East but the World Series so while you bask In the glory of one championship the Yankees polish off 26 more than you guys every year!

    • • Over the last two years, 21 Pac-10 players have been drafted representing nine of the league’s 10 member institutions. Here’s a breakdown by conferences over the last two years:

      Pac-10 21
      Big 12 13
      Big East 13
      Atlantic Coast 13
      Southeastern 9
      Big Ten 5
