A parade of big time programs continues
Mitch Richmond, a former running buddy of Chris Mullin’s with the Golden State Warriors, has joined Mullins St. John’s staff as a special assistant.
Richmond is a six-time NBA All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection who is enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
His addition to the staff should help St. John’s on the recruiting front as it provides yet another former NBA player to the mix. Richmond is also the first African-American addition to Mullin’s staff.
“Mitch is committed to helping us build this program and develop an environment for sustained success at St. John’s,” Mullin in a release. “He has tremendous basketball insight, a vision for the game and a passion to share his knowledge. Obviously, his experience in different roles throughout his career as a player, scout and mentor will have an impact in many areas.”
Marques Bolden, the No. 1 center in the Class of 2016 out of DeSoto (TX), has several visits in the works in the coming weeks and is targeting a winter decision for his college choice.
The 6-foot-10 Bolden will take an official visit to Kansas beginning Friday and is also “working on” visits to Kentucky for Big Blue Madness on Oct. 16 and to Duke for Countdown to Craziness on Oct. 17, his father, Melvin, confirmed.
He is also considering officials to Alabama, Oklahoma and TCU, he told Scout.com at the USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamp.

Baylor was the school highly-touted 6-foot-5 guard Kobie Eubanks initiallty committed to. It was the first program Eubanks had his eyes set on playing for.
Now, following an arduous recruiting road in which Eubanks twice re-opened his recruitment, the post-graduate could potentially take a detour back to Waco, Texas.
“I spoke with (assistant) coach (Jerome) Tang and coach Scott Drew about coming in December,” said Eubanks, who has now received a qualifying ACT score.
“It was the first school I wanted to go to coming out of high school, but I couldn’t because of an academic situation that took place when I was at American Heritage (FL). Then again, Baylor was the first school I wanted to go to. It really didn’t affect anything. I still have the same feelings about the program that I had when I was ready to go there.”
Vermont Academy guard Bruce Brown is focusing on four schools and has two visits set, sources told SNY.tv.
The 6-foot-3 Brown is focusing on Indiana, UMass, Purdue and Miami. He will visit Indiana Oct. 16-18 officially and Miami Oct. 22-24.
This summer, Brown averaged 16.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Brown did not immediately respond to a text message seeking additional information.

Udoka Azubuike took an official visit to N.C. State this past weekend and was joined by Dennis Smith Jr., who has already committed to the Wolfpack for 2016, and Rawle Alkins, who remains undecided.
“It was nice, it was great,” the 6-foot-10 Azubuike out of Jacksonville (FL) Potter’s House Christian said by phone.
The trio hung out together on Saturday, took this picture in the locker room and talked about possibly teaming up in college.
“Yeah, pretty much we were just talking about it,” he said. “But I don’t know yet, we’re gonna see.”
