In 2001, Stephen Davis’ epic book on The Rolling Stones was published.

It was called Old Gods Almost Dead: The 40-Year Odyssey of the Rolling Stones.

That was 14 years ago and The Stones seemed ancient then.

Old Gods Almost Dead.

Now as we embark on the spring and summer of 2015, a soon-to-be 72-year-old Mick Jagger, a 71-year-old Keith Richards and a soon-to-be 74-year-old Charlie Watts will be prowling the stage on the Zip Codes tour that begins May 24 in San Diego.

“Everybody’s really been enjoying the last few years,” Richards told Rolling Stone for its April 23 edition. “We’re all feeling energized.”

INDIANAPOLIS – Last year, Sacred Heart (CT) wing Mustapha Heron made a name for himself in the Under Armour Association, averaging 16.8 points and 4.6 rebounds for a successful New Heights 17U team.

This year, the unanimous top 25 player decided to shake things up, and take his talents to the Adidas Gauntlet. Through two sessions, he’s averaging 17.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists for the NY Rens.

“I made the switch from the Under Armour circuit to Gauntlet just to see what else was out there,” he told SNY.tv this past weekend. “There’s a lot of talent, and I just want to play against everyone. The Under Armour Association was great, but I just wanted to try something different. I like the Rens and I’m looking forward to the season. I’ll have the opportunity to play against a new set of players and maybe be seen by some more coaches.”

635647211685116146-MulderAfter visiting Kentucky over the weekend, junior college shooting guard Mychal Mulder committed to the Wildcats on Tuesday at a press conference.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound sophomore from Vincennes College averaged 15.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while making 46.3 percent of his 3-pointers (88 of 190) last season. He’s rated a four-star prospect and the No. 13 JUCO player in the country by 247Sports’ composite ranking.

A native of Ontario, Canada, Mulder also considered Creighton, Indiana and Wichita State, but Kentucky won out, gaining its first Class of 2015 pledge since November. He will have two years of eligibility at Kentucky.

“[Calipari] told me there is an opportunity there for me and it’s my choice to grab it. That’s all I ever wanted,” Mulder said, according to Kyle Tucker of the Louisville Courier-Journal. “It was a tough decision for me. A lot of great people recruited me. I just thought at the end of the day, Kentucky, playing there was probably my best chance of continuing my career after college. I hope to play professionally one day, and I felt like that would probably be my best opportunity.”

phd2Pl8v_400x400Brandon Ingram may be from the same hometown as former North Carolina basketball star Jerry Stackhouse.

But he’s headed to Duke, the Tar Heels’ archrival.

The 6-foot-9 Ingram chose the Blue Devils on Monday over North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, N.C. State and UCLA, giving Duke the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation ahead of Kentucky, according to 247Sports.com.

“Next fall I will be attending Duke University,” he said Monday at his high school. “I thought it was the best fit for me. Growing up I was a Duke fan and I love everything about Coach K. I want to impact the program as soon as I come in.

[Mike Krzyzewski] just told me so much about myself. He told me how unique I was and coming in I would be an impact player and he would help me get to the next level after college basketball.”
