Oregon State has chosen Montana head coach Wayne Tinkle as its new head coach, The Oregonian reported on Sunday.

The paper previously reported that Oregon State athletic director Bob De Carolis told players he plans to name a new coach Monday morning.

Tinkle went 158-91 at his alma mater, guiding the Grizzlies to three of the last five NCAA Tournaments. Oregon State hasn’t been to the Big Dance since 1990.

HAMPTON, Va. – Each 1 Teach 1’s Daniel Giddens played under a different number than listed this weekend at Nike’s EYBL Session 3, but it was still the same dominant performance as those in attendance have come to expect.

As for his future basketball interests, the 6-foot-10, 215-pound Giddens out of Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler cut his list in February to six schools: Kansas, Georgia, Ohio State, Arizona, Indiana and Florida.

He recently received an offer from Arkansas as well.

“Arkansas was a good offer. I’m still listening to some other colleges, but my list still stays the same,” Giddens said when asked if the offer changed his list.

HAMPTON, Va. – With adding two recent offers from Indiana and Marquette, CIA Bounce forward Montaque “Teki” Gill-Caesar continues to help lead his team at Nike’s EYBL Session 3. The 2015 wing forward had 16 points in a 74-69 win over Each 1 Teach 1 on Sunday.

There was discussion on Gill-Caesar reclassifying to 2014, but in the end he decided against it and will remain at Huntington (W.V.) Prep for another year.

HAMPTON, Va. – After seeing triple teams during the high school season, St. Louis Elite guard Jayson Tatum is down to getting just two defenders on him at a time on the EYBL circuit. Tatum discussed that along with the challenge of playing up after an 84-60 win over NTL Red Storm on Saturday at EYBL Session Three.

“The challenge is really just the physical aspect of the game, finishing inside, and learning how to work inside because a lot of teams double team and face guard,” the 2016 guard Tatum said when asked about being on the 17U circuit. “Just learning to work without the ball and still trying to get points.”

HAMPTON, VA – While others in the 2015 class have begun to cut their lists of potential colleges, Roselle Catholic’s Isaiah Briscoe has had his mind on basketball, not recruiting.

“I just haven’t had the time, I’m busy,” Briscoe told SNY.tv. “So whenever I get the time, I will be sure to put [my list] out.”

The most recent news in the recruiting world for the New Jersey star was a visit with and offer from Louisville coach Rick Pitino at RC in late April.

Stone-NewmanDiamond Stone reiterated to Evan Daniels of Scout.com on Saturday that he and Malik Newman — two of the top prospects in the Class of 2015 — are talking about a potential package deal.

Kentucky fans are already dreaming of landing both elite players for next season.

The 6-foot-3 Newman actually mentioned packaging with the 6-10 Stone back in March to Chris Thomas of The Clarion-Ledger.

“He’s like one of my play brothers,” Newman said in an episode of The Clarion-Ledger’s exclusive video series “Beyond the Game.” “We were really thinking about being a package deal. Hopefully that works out. Maybe you’ll be seeing us two play together again.”

Thomas pointed out that “Newman and Stone played together last summer on USA Basketball’s U16 National Team, which won the FIBA Americas Championships in Maldonado, Uruguay.”
