    robert_carterHaving already visited St. John’s, transferring Georgia Tech forward Robert Carter Jr. plans to visit South Carolina, Maryland and possibly Kansas in the coming days before making a decision on his future, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

    Carter Jr. is set to trip to South Carolina Saturday and Maryland on Tuesday.

    “He enjoyed St. John’s,” Winfred Jordan, Carter’s former coach with the Atlanta XPress, told the AJC. “He thought the chance to play his home games at Madison Square Garden was unbelievable. It’s a big market, and Robert is a Southern kid, and those things kind of impress you.

    “But at the end of the day, we just want to make sure that Robert is in the right situation with the right kind of people so he can try to accomplish what his dream is – that’s to get to the next level for basketball.”

    OllieThe American Athletic Conference announced the 2014-15 men’s basketball conference pairings. The 2015 men’s basketball championship will be played March 12-15, 2015, (Thursday-Sunday) at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut as previously announced.

    With the addition of East Carolina University, Tulane University and the University of Tulsa in 2014, The American’s membership increases to 11 with its basketball teams continuing to play an 18-game conference schedule. Each team will play eight of its 10 opponents twice, and the other two opponents once each – one at home and one away. The complete 2014-15 conference schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.

    Billy Donovan won’t guarantee he will be back at Florida next season.

    Five NBA jobs are currently open — including the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have reportedly shown interest in Donovan, winner of two NCAA titles with the Gators.

    “I think when you start making guarantees about life and start making guarantees about where you’re going to be, that’s not good because if for some reason I ever change my mind and did something, I wouldn’t want (people) saying, ‘Well, he promised, he guaranteed, he said this on record,'” Donovan said, according to the Associated Press. “I just think when you start doing that, that’s a mistake.”

    SUWANEE, Ga. — Asante Gist is ready to show that he has become one of the best floor generals in the country.

    Listed at 5-foot-11, Gist impressed all weekend long at the Norman Parker Nike Memorial Classic, averaging 18 points and 9 assists per game for  a BBA 17U team that went 3-1 before having to leave early due to a travel issue.

    “Summer’s going good so far,” Gist told SNY.tv after a win over Grassroots Elite. “I’m still working on my jump shot, still making everybody on my team better, and maturing more as a point guard.”

    MINNEAPOLIS — One of the most versatile players in the Class of 2015 is Henry Ellenson.

    A 6-foot-10 power forward from Rice Lake, WI, Ellenson is ranked No. 9 at his position in the class by 247Sports.com. He is comfortable putting the ball on the floor, banging down low or shooting from long-range. His mix of size, athleticism, and skill made him an All-State player in Wisconsin, and Playground Elite’s leading scorer and rebounder on the EYBL circuit.

    Ellenson wants to utilize his diverse skill set at a program that will let him play different positions.

    “I’m looking at a place where I’ll be able to play inside and outside, and put it on the floor and be able to shoot,” he told SNY.tv exclusively this past weekend at the Nike EYBL stop here.. “I don’t want to be stuck in a certain position. Playing my way and where they would play me — I don’t want to be stuck in one spot. That’s probably the biggest factor in my decision.”
