LAKELAND, Fla.– While there were many good freshmen at the FHSAA State Championships over the past week, there was only one who played significant minutes when it mattered in both the State Semifinals and the State Championship game.

His name was McKinley Harvin.

The 6-foot lefty guard for Bartow (Fla.) played 27 minutes in the 7A State Championship game against Matt Milon and Oviedo, hitting two big threes to keep the Yellowjackets in it. In the end, it wasn’t enough as Bartow dropped the 55-52 decision.

Kobie Eubanks, the top uncommitted 2014 shooting guard out of Our Savior New American, will be at Baylor for tonight’s Iowa State game.

“Heading to Baylor,” he told SNY.tv.

The 6-foot-5 Eubanks visited Pitt on Sunday and Monday, watching the Panthers lose to N.C. State, 74-67 Monday night.

He Tweeted: “I had a Good time on my Visit at Pitt. I met some Good people. The Pete and. Da Zoo were Jumping… # ACC # Panther Nation!!!”

Murray-NoleNEW YORK — In a showdown of two of the tennis world’s Big Four, Novak Djokovic beat Andy Murray, 6-3, 7-6 (2), Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

It was fun and light-hearted  exhibition on World Tennis Day before both get back to the business at hand in 2014: playing the spring hardcourt circuit and then trying to win Grand Slam championships.

Between them, the Big Four of Djokovic, Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have won 34 of the last 36 Majors, but none of them owns a Grand Slam title in 2014.

Marvin Clark enjoyed his visit to Indiana Wednesday but will not announce his college choice until sometime next week.

His Bel Aire (KS) Sunrise Christian teammate, 7-footer Dusan Ristic, is expected to announce Saturday for Arizona, but Clark told SNY.tv he won’t announce until next week — possibly Wednesday.

“Deciding sometime next week,” he said by text.

Clark, a  6-foot-6 post-graduate small forward, visited Indiana Wednesday for the Nebraska game after visiting Michigan State this past weekend.

“It was good,” he said of Indiana. “I just liked the opportunity there to start early as a freshman. They want to use me all around the floor, 2, 3 and some 4 early on.”

He is also considering Iowa State, Kansas State, Seton Hall and Ole Miss.

Tyler EnnisFor much of this season it seemed virtually inevitable that Syracuse would secure the No. 1 seed in the East and would be lined up to play as many as four straight NCAA Tournament games without leaving New York State.

But that was before the Orange lost three of their last four games — to Boston College, Duke and Virginia — to tumble to No. 7 in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Although the Orange have lost the ACC regular-season title to Virginia, they are still expected to challenge for the ACC tournament title — along with No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Virginia and No. 14 North Carolina.

Jackson DavisIndiana, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Arizona State are the latest programs to show interest in Jackson Davis , a 6-foot-8 2014 power forward from Lexington (KY) Lafayette.

All four schools are attempting to come out this week, Davis’ parents told SNY.tv.

Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford is expected to come out one day this week.

Also, Davis will meet tonight (Monday) with Alabama, Johnathon Davis, Jackson’s father, said.
