Myles Turner took his first official visit to Ohio State this past weekend and it went well.

“Myles told me it went really well,” David Turner, Myles’ father, told SNY.tv. “His mom and Myles went. He enjoyed it. Ohio State showed  him a great time.”

David said head coach Thad Matta talked to the 6-foot-11 Trinity (TX) Euless big man about how he would be used.

“Coach does have specific ideas about how they would use him and he explained that to Myles in pretty good detail,” David said. “He wasn’t going to just stick Myles in the post and leave him there.”

This past weekend, West Virginia received a visit from one of the top players in the class of 2015.

Montaque Gill-Caesar, a 6-foot-6, 200 pound junior out of Huntington Prep (WV) took the short road trip up to Morgantown with a couple teammates in West Virginia-bound center Levi Cook and 2015 forward Miles Bridges to see the University of West Virginia’s Midnight Madness, and was impressed by what he saw.

“It was cool,” Gill-Caesar told SNY.tv. “I took a visit there last year but I went there for Midnight Madness this year and the atmosphere was crazy. Levi had been there before, but for Miles and I it was a bit different, just seeing how everything worked with the new players, new recruits, and just seeing how they would deal with it.”

Indianapolis Park Tudor small forward Trevon Bluiett has visited Butler and Michigan State in the past several days, and plans to get out to Xavier this week as well.

The 6-foot-5 senior shooting guard recently decommitted from UCLA and is now considering Butler, Michigan State, Xavier and Memphis.

He and his father, Rey, visited Butler Saturday for a practice.

“It was good, it was good to see [coach] Brandon [Miller] and watch him run a practice,” Rey told SNY.tv Monday. “We wanted to go over there and get a feel.”

Devin Booker enjoyed his weekend visit to Missouri, telling SNY.tv, “It was a great time!”

Jason Jordan of USA Today reported that Booker will return to Missouri this weekend for the ceremony honoring his father and the 1993-94 team.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard attends Moss Point (MS) High and is considering Michigan State, Michigan, Kentucky, Florida and Missouri and is expected to announce Oct 31.

His father, Melvin Booker, was an All-American at Missouri and Devin said he always feels at “home” there.

“First, it’s my dad’s alma mater,” Devin told SNY.tv in August at the Elite 24.

St. John’s coach Steve Lavin and his staff haven’t recruited New Jersey too heavily since coming aboard in Queens in 2010.

Sure, they went after former St. Anthony star Kyle Anderson but he was an elite talent who ultimately chose UCLA over Seton Hall, St. John’s and others.

Now Lavin has jumped into the Isaiah Briscoe Sweepstakes and the St. John’s coach was at Roselle (N.J.) Catholic Sunday night to watch Briscoe and his teammates work out. Briscoe, in turn, is slated to be at St. John’s Friday for Red Storm Tip-Off. He may also visit Rutgers Saturday.

Jessie Govan enjoyed a double-dip of visits over the weekend, hitting UConn for its Midnight Madness as well as Seton Hall.

The 6-foot-9, 255-pound Queens Village, N.Y., junior tripped to UConn Friday night.

“UConn’s atmosphere was amazing for their Midnight Madness,” Govan, who recently transferred to Wings Academy, told SNY.tv.

“I had a great talk with Coach [Kevin] Ollie after. Both [Ollie and Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard] said they would use me how I play, with my back to the basket but able to step out.”

Memphis

Chicago Curie big man Cliff Alexander enjoyed his weekend visit to Memphis, and will trip to Illinois next weekend in what could be his final visit.

“It was great, I had a great time in the three days we were there,”  Alexander’s mother, Latillia Alexander, told SNY.tv. “We visited family there.”

Latillia said that Memphis coach Josh Pastner spoke about how he would use the 6-foot-9 Alexander if he came to school there.

“He said he loves him, he’ll take care of him and the program he runs there will be great for him,” she said.

Huntington (W.V.) Prep shooting guard JaQuan Lyle also took an unofficial to Memphis. The two have talked about packaging but that remains uncertain at this point.
