Point Guard Dickerson Considering Rutgers, Arkansas, Murray State

Rutgers coach Eddie Jordan needs to fill up his roster — and fast.

The Scarlet Knights need several players to replace those who are transferring, and so Jordan reached out unsuccessfully to Jon Severe, who chose Fordham on Wednesday, and has also connected with 6-foot-1 point guard Trey Dickerson.

Dickerson is a Queens native now playing at God’s Academy (TX).

“I like Rutgers a lot,” he told SNY.tv. “It’s close to home. They are going Big 10 and I can play in front of my family.”

Dickerson said Jordan had yet to officially offer a scholarship and was trying to touch base with Dickerson’s mother and coach.

The point guard said he also likes Murray State and Arkansas.

“Murray St is a good situation for me,” he said. “Now that Isaiah Canaan is gone they will need someone to lead and step up.”

Arkansas is another option.

“Arkansas is SEC and they play up tempo which fits my style of play,” Dickerson said.

Dickerson said other schools are involved but “those are my favorites.”

The NCAA late signing period ends May 15 and Dickerson hopes to decide soon.

“Possibly in the next week or two,” he said.
