Eli Carter Down to Two Options

Rutgers guard Eli Carter will land at one of two locations.

“Down to Maryland & Florida!! #Decisions,” he Tweeted Friday.

The 6-foot-2 guard will visit Florida Sunday/Monday, and sources said he would visit Maryland after that.

If Carter selects Florida, he would be following in the footsteps of another former St. Anthony guard, Mike Rosario, who spent two seasons at Rutgers before transferring to play for Billy Donovan.

Rosario had his best season there this year, averaging 12.6 points.

If Carter lands at Maryland, he would be heading to the Big Ten in 2014 where he would match up against his old school since Rutgers also joins that league then.

Carter averaged 14.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists before fracturing his right fibula in mid-February against DePaul.

He would have two years of eligibility remaining and could apply for a waiver to play immediately given the extenuating circumstances surrounding Mike Rice’s firing.

Carter’s former teammate, junior wing Mike Pooleannounced plans to transfer to Iona on Tuesday.
