Darryl Reynolds to Villanova

Darryl Reynolds, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound power forward from Worcester (Mass.) Academy, pledged to Villanova on Tuesday.

Reynolds picked the Wildcats over Utah and South Carolina, Worcester coach Jamie Sullivan told SNY.tv.

Reynolds, who averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks, made the announcement at his original high school, Lower Merion (Pa.)

“He can rebound, run, block shots, he has a really good face-up game inside 12-15 feet,” Sullivan said. “He’s a high-character kid.”

Sullivan said he had just gotten off the phone with Villanova coach Jay Wright, who was “really excited.”

Villanova loses Mouph Yarou and Maurice Sutton and needs size up front.

“He’s a tremendous young man who’s going to be a great addition for them,” Sullivan said. “They have a need in the frontcourt area.”

“He’s very mature, has good size 220 pounds. He’s a tremendous character kid.”
