Andrew Wiggins: ‘I don’t know where I’m going’

Remember when that rumor spread that Andrew Wiggins would announce his college choice this weekend at the Nike Hoop Summit?

Yes, those were some good times.

The fact is that Wiggins says he hasn’t even decided where he will go yet.

“Anyone who says they know where I’m going is a liar,” Wiggins told Michael Grange of sportsnet.ca in this excellent column from Portland. “I don’t know where I’m going, so they can’t know where I’m going.”

After playing his final game as a high school student on Saturday night as a member of the World Team against the USA Team, the 6-foot-7 Wiggins will apparently sharpen his focus on his next step.

Beginning Monday, he meets for three straight days with three men who would love the opportunity to coach him for the one season he will be in college: North Carolina’s Roy Williams on Monday, Kansas’ Bill Self on Tuesday and Florida State’s Leonard Hamilton on Wednesday. Wiggins already met with Kentucky’s John Calipari prior to the McDonald’s Game.

It is possible Wiggins could then pull the trigger sometime late next week after those meetings…

Or, he could wait until anytime up until May 15, the end of the NCAA late signing period….

Or, he could even wait past that if he so desires. He could just sign scholarship papers with somebody and never sign a Letter of Intent.

Until he does commit, listen to the young man when he says, “Anyone who says they know where I’m going is a liar.”

For now, his immediate goal is carry the World team to a second straight victory on Saturday.

A year ago, he went for 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks as the World team won, 84-75.

This time around, it’s Wiggins’ last game as a schoolboy.

“I wouldn’t want to play my last game and lose,” he told Grange.
