Eli Carter Latest to Ask for Release From Rutgers

Rutgers probably needs to get the Eddie Jordan hire done as soon as possible, or the next coach may not have any players left to coach.

Sophomore guard Eli Carter officially requested his release last week, multiple sources confirmed to SNY.tv Wednesday.

Jerome Seagears, Malick Kone and Vincent Garrett have all filed their paperwork and been granted releases.

Mike Poole has not formally submitted his paperwork requesting a transfer but is expected to do so.

Grassroots basketball legend Sonny Vaccaro previously told SNY.tv that he believes all of Rutgers players should get releases to play right away next season based on the Mike Rice situation.

The 6-foot-2 Carter averaged 14.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists before fracturing his right fibula in mid-February against DePaul.

Meantime, former Rutgers commit Shane Rector takes an official to Missouri Friday and onetime Rutgers commit Chris Griffin pledged to Auburn.
