Bobby Hurley Has ‘Much’ to Be Happy About

ATLANTA — Bobby Hurley has landed his first recruit at the University of Buffalo and he has “much” to be happy about.

Deyshonee Much, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard from Rochester, N.Y. and Redemption Christian Prep, verbally committed to Buffalo.

He also had strong interest from Rhode Island, Texas State, Northern Kentucky, Northeastern, Canisius, FDu and Monmouth.

“I felt as though everything was meant to be,” Much told SNY.tv. “I met him at URI while working out and I could see that I fit his coaching style. When I heard that he would be the head coach at UB, I quickly gained interest in the school.

“My prep school coach [Kevin Simmons] has told me from Day 1 that there’s a difference between a coach liking you and a coach loving you. Coach Hurley has showed nothing but love. I also felt that he could develop me into a more complete player by increasing my basketball IQ and helping me to become more of a leader because of his experience and knowledge for the game.

“I’ve never thought I would have an opportunity to work with someone with such an inspiring reputation.”

Said Simmons: “He is a kid that went under the radar and I truly believe we will be hearing a lot from this kid on the next level.

“He can shoot it, he can get to the rim. He’s a long, athletic 6-4 kid that can also defend. He is so happy to be going to play for a coach with that type of background. Once coach told him much how much he wanted Deyshonee to be a Buffalo it was a big deal to the kid.”
