Josh Hart committed to Villanova over Penn State and Rutgers Wednesday afternoon, and then clarified his “negative recruiting” comments during a phone interview with SNY.tv.

“It was a great place for me to be,” the 6-foot-6 small forward out of Silver Springs (Md.) Sidwell Friends said. “They talked about developing me not only as a player, but as a man and how I’m going to be successful in life.

“After they talked about that and really reiterated that to me during my visit and after my visit, I felt like that was the best opportunity for me and the best place to be.”

Hart also clarified his comments that Villanova was the only school not to negatively recruit him.

The NCAA 45-day window has begun for Kentucky freshman center Nerlens Noel and he has not yet been fully cleared, an NCAA source with direct knowledge of the case told SNY.tv Wednesday.

The source, who is not authorized to speak publicly because the case has not been resolved, added: “The case status is fluid and may change this week.”

“Will it be resolved by Midnight Madness [on Friday]?” the source added. “Or even by the season opener? No one knows at this point. UK is downplaying it publicly but I’m sure they’re a bit concerned.”

Kentucky head coach John Calipari said Thursday at a press conference: “[Noel] will practice. If we played today, he would play.”

James Young will announce his college choice Thursday on ESPNU, according to a Tweet from ESPN’s Paul Biancardi.

The 6-foot-6 Young is considering Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan State and Syracuse but has made no secret of his admiration for Kentucky and head coach John Calipari.

SNY.tv recently reported that Andrew and Aaron Harrison had reached out to Young and Julius Randle about joining them at Kentucky. The twins committed last week to become Kentucky’s first 2013 recruits.

Young recently visited Kentucky unofficially and may visit again Oct. 12 for Big Blue Madness.

St. Benedict’s Prep power forward Denzell Taylor is nearing a decision.

“I think it’s going to come down to Old Dominion, St. Bonaventure, Siena and St. Joe’s,” St. Benedict’s Prep head coach Mark Taylor told SNY.tv Wednesday.

The 6-foot-7, 215-foot power forward will take an unofficial today (Wednesday) to LIU and visits Old Dominion officially Nov. 3. He is in the process of setting up officials to Siena and St. Bonaventure.

Siena, St. Bonaventure and St. Joe’s have yet to officially offer, Taylor said.

Rafael Nadal says his left knee is still in pain and he has no precise timetable for getting back on a tennis court.

“I wouldn’t know,” Nadal, who last played June 28 in a second-round loss at Wimbledon to Lukas Rosol, said Tuesday on a conference call. “That’s something I will know when my knee is completely without pain.… It could take three weeks, it could take one month and a half, I don’t know.”

An 11-time Grand Slam singles champion ranked No. 4 in the world, Nadal was on the call to promote his match against Juan Martin del Potro on March 4 at Madison Square Garden in the BNP Paribas Classic. Serena Williams will also play women’s world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka in a rematch of the U.S. Open final won by Serena.

Andrew Wiggins won’t attend Big Blue Madness at Kentucky this weekend because he will be at home in Toronto visiting family while Huntington Prep has an extended fall break.

“Yes, he’s going home on fall break,” Huntington coach Rob Fulford told SNY.tv. “He will get up to a game [at Kentucky].”

The news was first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com.

After landing twins Aaron and Andrew Harrison last week, the 6-foot-8 Wiggins remains Kentucky coach John Calipari’s top target.
