    Rysheed Jordan says he has “cut” his list to seven schools — and Maryland is not on the list.

    “Helllo againn my final 7 schools rrr temple,St johns,Syracuse,rutgers, xavier,alabama, ucla, if wasnt clear ur hearing from my mouth,” he Tweeted.

    The 6-foot-4 point guard out of Philly Vaux Roberts also said he plans to cut to three sometime soon, with some speculation running that those three will be St. John’s, Temple and Syracuse. He will visit Syracuse officially this weekend.

    Roddy Peters remains one of the most sought after point guards still left on the board.

    The 6-foot-4 Peters out of Suitland (Md.) is the Rivals No. 9 point guard in the Class of 2013.

    His mother, Jamena Peters, told SNY.tv Tuesday that her son is still planning on visiting UCLA and Kansas even though this weekend’s visit to UCLA was cancelled and Kansas just landed another point guard.

    “He’s still going to possibly take the UCLA and Kansas visits,” she said. “UCLA, we don’t have a date yet. It got cancelled [this weekend].”

    Shane Rector has been at South Kent (Conn.) for more than a month now and head coach Kelvin Jefferson is fairly shocked that the 2013 point guard isn’t being more heavily recruited.

    “Tom Konchalski wrote his report and called him a 5-minus,” Jefferson told SNY.tv. “He rated him high. [But] he’s very under-recruited. The recruitment is slow.”

    When the 6-foot-1 Rector left St. Raymond’s in The Bronx, he reportedly held offers from Providence, Hofstra, UMass and Dayton, but Jefferson said only one high-major school is involved.

    “Arizona State was the only high-major to come in to recruit him but they haven’t offered yet,” he said.

    After recently decommitting from Xavier, Chipola (Fla.) College shooting guard Chris Thomas remains wide open.

    “He’s decommitted,” Chipola coach Patrick Blake, whose team went 2-1 over the weekend in the Southeastern Jamboree, told SNY.tv. “He’s opened it back up and kind of focusing on the start of the season. He really hasn’t gotten much into the whole recruiting process.”

    Asked if any schools were expressing strong interest in the 6-foot-5 Thomas, Blake said, “Not really. It’s still obviously fairly new and he’s been committed to Xavier for a while. With our season coming up, that’s his main focus.”

    Several major commitments have gone down in the past few days.

    As first reported last night on my Twitter, Dylan Johns, a 6-foot-10 center from the Houston Trent International School, has committed to LSU and plans to enroll in December.

    Eugene Harris, the head coach at Trent, said Johns chose LSU over Baylor, Michigan State and Oklahoma STate.

    “He has a real, real high skillset as far as athleticism around the basket,” Harris told SNY.tv by phone. “He has a good IQ for a big man, good hands, soft touch. He plays defense and can rebound good.”

    GREENBURGH, N.Y. — If Carmelo Anthony finally leads the Knicks past the first round of the playoffs this season, they may have the Olympics to thank.

    Anthony says he’s in better shape than he’s ever been in and trusts his teammates more after winning a gold medal in London alongside fellow Knick Tyson Chandler. 

    “I’ve felt that I’ve been in great shape before,” Anthony said Monday after practice. “Coming into this camp this year, I feel extremely different, a lot different coming into this camp, having the full camp, being heathy, being in the best shape that I could be in. It makes things a lot more easier when I’m able to do that.”

    The four LIU players arrested and charged with assault last month were reinstated, placed on probation and suspended two games apiece on Monday.

    C.J. Garner, 22, Julian Boyd, 22, Troy Joseph, 21, and Jamal Olasawere, 21, were all charged with third-degree assault for their involvement in the Sept. 15 altercation. Boyd was the Northeast Conference Player of the Year, and Olaswere was a first-team all-conference selection.

    LIU Brooklyn Director of Athletics John Suarez said the quartet will be suspended two games each.
