PENNINGTON, N.J. — Pittsburgh is the latest school to offer uncommitted 2013 point guard Jaren Sina.

Jamie Dixon called me and offered Jaren for Pitt,” Mergin Sina, Jaren’s father and the coach at Gill St. Bernard’s, said at the Mary Kline Classic.

A former Alabama commit, Sina was named co-MVP of the Mary Kline a week ago after putting up eight points and 14 assists in a loss.

Northwestern and Alabama are also involved, as are several Big East schools.

Kyrie Irving, who began his high school basketball career at tiny Montclair (N.J.) Kimberley Academy and finished up at powerhouse St. Patrick, will be named the NBA Rookie of the Year, according to reports.

Irving, who led all first-year players in scoring at 18.5 points per game, will receive the award Tuesday, the AP reported.

“I would imagine it’s something you dream about as a kid working out with all the time and effort you put in,” former St. Patrick and current Montverde (Fla.) Academy coach  Kevin Boyle told SNY.tv.  “He was blessed with some talent but what people don’t realize is he’s an example of a guy who really loves to play and really worked hard. He put a lot of time in the gym.

Reggie Cameron, one of the top small forwards in the Class of 2013 out of Hudson (N.J.) Catholic, will be contributing periodically to ZAGSBLOG during his junior season. Here’s his third entry:

What’s up, everybody? This is Reggie Cameron with another blog entry.

Right now I’m out here in Dallas, Texas for our third Nike EYBL session. Right now we stand at 6-5 and we are playing to earn a spot in the Nike Peach Jam, which is like the NCAA Tournament for the Nike AAU circut.

Kentucky has landed its second former North Carolina State guard.

Julius Mays, a Wright State combo guard who began his career at N.C. State, committed to the Wildcats on Sunday, according to CatsIllustrated.com.

The 6-foot-2 Mays will be eligible immediately next season.

After spending two years at N.C. State and then transferring to Wright State in 2010, Mays joins former N.C. State point guard Ryan Harrow in Kentucky’s incoming class. That group also includes high school players Archie Goodwin, Alex Poythress, Willie Cauley and Nerlens Noel.

PENNINGTON, N.J. — Tyler Ennis, one of the top point guards in the Class of 2013, has eliminated Arizona from his list.

“Yes, too many point guards there,” his father, Tony McIntrye of CIA Bounce, told SNY.tv, confirming a report by ESPN.com.

The 6-foot-3 Ennis continues to consider Syracuse, Memphis and Villanova, among others.

Syracuse is in strong position with both Ennis and St. Benedict’s Prep rising sophomore Isaiah Briscoe.

Uncommitted 2012 wing Savon Goodman took an official visit to Pittsburgh this past weekend, his high school coach, Rob Moore, confirmed to SNY.tv.

Goodman was not immediately available for comment but Moore said the visit went well.

The 6-foot-6 Goodman also recently visited Seton Hall. Temple is also making a push.

He is also considering spending a post-grad year at prep powerhouse Brewster (N.H.) Academy.
