    For the second straight year, an Arizona point guard will transfer.

    One year after Momo Jones left for Iona, freshman Josiah Turner is also departing.

    Turner, a 6-foot-3, 192-pound guard from Sacramento, Calif., averaged 6.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 29 appearances this year. He posted career-high totals of 15 points on Feb. 23 vs. USC and seven assists against Utah (Feb. 11).

    In March, he was suspended indefinitely from the team due to a violation of team rules.

    Articles, Iona

    In its continuing quest to mine top  junior college talent, Iona has landed DaSean Anderson, a 6-foot-8 small forward from LA Trade Tech in California.

    Ken Hunter, the team’s assistant coach, said Anderson chose Iona over offers from St. Peter’s, Cal State-Northridge, Montana and Montana State, as well as interest from Washington State.

    Anderson will have two years of eligibility remaining.

    “He can do so many things at 6-8, he’s kind of like a Rudy Gay-ish player with his outside shot,” Hunter told SNY.tv. “He’s extremely athletic. He can get to the rim. He can create so many things offensively. He’s such a mismatch nightmare.

    The Monroe College duo of Orlando Sanchez and Marco Bourgault will soon hit the road for several visits.

    “He is taking three visits,” Monroe assistant Brock Erickson told SNY.tv of the 6-foot-8 Sanchez.

    Sanchez will visit Auburn April 13-14, Providence April 17-18 and St. John’s April 20-21. Bourgault, a 6-6 wing shooter, will accompany Sanchez on the St. John’s visit after tripping to Louisiana Tech April 16-18.

    Tonight’s the Night the top two uncommitted players in the Class of 2012 — Nerlens Noel and Shabazz Muhammad — will reveal their college choices live on ESPNU (7:30 p.m. EST).

    As of Tuesday night — when Muhammad Tweeted this picture — he was still making up his mind about his college destination.

    “Duke, UCLA, UK, nothing has changed,” his father, Ron Holmes, texted SNY.tv Tuesday night. “All three right there.”

    The 6-foot-6 Muhammad is coming off a record 35-point outing in a losing effort in Saturday night’s Nike Hoop Summit. He then met with Kentucky coach John Calipari and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski over the weekend.

    Former LIU coach Jim Ferry has taken the job at Duquesne and will be replaced by associate head coach Jack Perri.

    Ferry will be introduced at a press conference Thursday.

    “I am truly thrilled to be named the next head men’s basketball coach at LIU Brooklyn,” said Perri, who spent a year as head coach at Division III Rhode Island College. “I am honored that both Mr. [John] Suarez [the AD] and Provost Gale Stevens Haynes have given me this tremendous opportunity to build upon what we, as a team, have already accomplished.
