    NEW YORK — The biggest moment in the Knicks 100-85 win over the Sacramento Kings Wednesday night may have come after Jeremy Lin left the game in the third quarter with a double-double.

    That’s when he went to the bench and shared a laugh with Carmelo Anthony.

    “We were just having fun and kind of talking about how we’re both excited for when he comes back,” Lin said after putting up 10 points and 13 assists.

    Lin and Anthony having fun together is about the best news Knicks fans can hope for.

    NEW YORK — Before his Sacramento Kings played the Knicks at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night, head coach Keith Smart got a few texts about  — who else? — Jeremy Lin.

    From his friends in the Philippines.

    “This guy just showed up and just transcended the world,” Smart said before he Knicks won their seventh straight, 100-85, behind Lin’s 10 points and 13 assists. “I mean, this guy is all around the world. I have friends that are in the Philippines texting me about Jeremy Lin, you know?

    “You can’t explain it.”

    Jim Calhoun’s medical leave will last at least three more game as he’s treated for spinal stenosis.

    Calhoun, who has missed games against Seton Hall (Feb. 4), Louisville (Feb. 6) and Syracuse (Feb. 11) while battling the painful lower back condition, will not be on the Huskies’ bench for Wednesday’s game against DePaul, and will miss Saturday’s game against Marquette and Monday’s game at Villanova as well.

    Calhoun has been through a number of evaluations as doctors attempt to diagnose the specific cause of discomfort in order to determine the best course of treatment.

    NEW YORK — John Starks isn’t Asian and he never went to Harvard.

    But he does see similarities between himself and Jeremy Lin.

    Both started out with the Golden State Warriors. Both spent time in the NBA’s minor leagues. Both went on to become stars with the Knicks.

    And, Starks believes, Lin can take the Knicks on a deep playoff run just like the 1994 team that featured Patrick Ewing and Starks and reached the NBA Finals.

    “Oh yeah, I think they got a great chance to make a run,” Starks told SNY.tv during an exclusive interview Wednesday at the East Village Earth School where he was making an appearance. “I think if everybody stays healthy, then their chance is as good as anybody in the East.”

    Brooklyn Thomas Jefferson will be the latest team that gets a crack at UCLA-bound point guard Kyle Anderson and unbeaten St. Anthony.

    “Tonight’s the night, like Betty White,” Jefferson (21-5) coach Lawrence Pollard told SNY.tv. “One of two things will happen. We are going to be exposed or get plenty of exposure.”

    The Friars (20-0) are the defending mythical national champs and carry a 53-game winning streak into the game at Lincoln High School.
