NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Orlando Sanchez, a 6-foot-9, 205-pound face-up four man from Monroe (N.Y.) College, remains wide open in his recruitment.

“I don’t know what school I want to go,” Sanchez, a native of the Dominican Republic who played last summer for Kentucky coach John Calipari on the Dominican team, told SNY.tv  Sunday. “I need to talk to my coaches.”

Sanchez has interest or offers from St. John’s, Providence, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Oregon, FIU, Baylor, UConn, Iowa State, Texas A&M and Rhode Island.

Mississippi State forward Renardo Sidney likely won’t be brought back to the team for his senior season, a source close to the program told SNY.tv Sunday.

Sidney, a 6-foot-10 junior who has battled weight and attitude issues for most of his career, will likely seek a professional paycheck although it’s possible he could transfer.

When asked if he would be chosen in the 2012 NBA Draft, one veteran NBA scout said flatly, “No.”

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The good news for Seton Hall is that they have landed a point guard to replace senior Jordan Theodore.

The bad news is that Tom Maayan is currently on crutches recovering from ACL surgery. He tore his ACL while playing last month in the Canary Islands.

“It’s a clean ACL,” Canarias Basketball Academy coach Rob Orellana, whose team is on a tour of the U.S., told SNY.tv Sunday during an exclusive interview at the Monroe College Athletic Complex.

“Everybody’s happy with the way the operation came about. He was operated on beginning of the month [January] and everybody’s positive with the way it’s healing. He’s started a rigorous rehabilitation process now and we hope to see him get on the floor hopefully by May or June.”

Binghamton, you’re next on the clock.

After Towson ended an NCAA Division 1-record 41-game losing streak with a 66-61 win over UNCW Saturday, Binghamton jumped to the top of the list no college basketball program wants to be on. The New York State school has dropped 22 straight.

“Our guys have really been working hard all year,” Towson coach Pat Skerry told SNY.tv by phone. “The interesting thing about this so-called streak is other than two managers and one player, no one was here for it last year.”
