    Five schools are working the hardest on 6-foot-8 Brewster Academy forward JaKarr Sampson, according to his AAU coach.

    “St. John’s, Kansas, Providence, Baylor and Florida,” Don Anderson told SNY.tv by text.

    A former St. John’s commit, Sampson also mentioned Louisville and Pitt during the above interview with MassLive.com.

    “I’m not even close to deciding right now,” he said. “I’m probably going to sign in the spring.”

    He said he will take visits “Probably after the season.”

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — In the battle of 2013 point guards in the Dan Finn Classic, Aquille Carr may have had more fans, but Tyler Ennis walked away with the victory.

    The 6-foot-3 Ennis took the game over late, scoring 14 of his team-high 20 points in the fourth period as St. Benedict’s Prep, No. 23 in the Five Star Basketball Power rankings, routed Carr and Baltimore (Md.) Patterson, 89-63, at the Jersey City Armory.

    “He’s a great guard, he proved it today,” the Seton Hall-bound Carr, who scored a game-high 38, said of Ennis.

    “He got his team the ‘W’ and I came up short, but I’m going to just keep working and get my team back at it.”

    While Carr has his college situation squared away, much to the delight of the Seton Hall fans in attendance, Ennis is still deciding.

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Playing his first game in New Jersey since committing to Seton Hall last week, Aquille Carr put on quite a show for the fans.

    With a throng of blue-clad Pirates supporters on hand at the Jersey City Armory, the 5-foot-6, 150-pound guard known as “The Crime Stopper” poured in a game-high 38 points and dished four assists but his Baltimore (Md.) Patterson team lost to St. Benedict’s Prep, 89-63, in the Dan Finn Classic.

    “I feel good,” said Carr, a 2013 guard who chose Seton Hall over Baylor, Memphis, Maryland, Texas and Louisville. “I’m glad they came out to see what I’m capable of doing and what they’re going to see in the next two years.”

    UConn announced Friday that freshman guard Ryan Boatright, who earlier this year was suspended six games by the NCAA for receiving improper benefits, “will be held out of intercollegiate competition effective immediately while the school works cooperatively with the NCAA in a review of his eligibility.”

    “This development arises from additional information provided by the NCAA that pertains to conditions and events that pre-date the University’s relationship with Boatright,” the statement added.

    Tanesha Boatright, Ryan’s mother, politely declined comment via text.

    In November, the 6-foot Boatright was suspended six games for receiving
