    NEW YORK — Knicks shooting guard Kelenna Azubuike still hasn’t circled a date for his debut, but hopes he can play in a game “soon.”

    “I feel really good,” the 6-foot-6 former Kentucky star said Tuesday before the Knicks hosted the Charlotte Bobcats.

    He participated Monday in his first five-on-five scrimmage since undergoing left knee surgery a year ago.

    NEW YORK — If it seems like UCLA head coach Ben Howland is ramping up his recruiting in the Northeast, that’s because he is.

    “We’ve tried to stick our hat in the ring here on a couple kids and we’re involved with a couple kids right now that I think are really good players out of this area,” Howland said Tuesday in advance of his team’s game Wednesday with No. 7  Villanova in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden.

    South Kent (Conn.) shooting guard Ricardo Ledo will visit Kentucky and Louisville unofficially but no dates have yet been set.

    “We tried picking a few dates but he had games on those dates,” Todd Quarles, Ledo’s AAU coach with Expressions Elite, said by phone.

    The news was first reported by Scout.com.

    Quarles said they looked at a Dec. 11 trip to Kentucky, but South Kent plays Bridgton Academy that day.

    You could form a pretty solid mid-90s NBA All-Star team with the names Hardaway, Dumars, Rice and Horford.

    It might seem like a scene out of “Hot Tub Time Machine” when players with all of those names take the court this week at the Legends Classic at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, but it’s really happening.

    Tim Hardaway Jr. (pictured), Jordan Dumars (Joe’s son) and Jon Horford (Tito’s son) are on the Michigan roster while Glen Rice Jr. suits up for Georgia Tech.

    Cincinnati, Pittsburgh

    Pittsburgh junior guard Ashton Gibbs of Scotch Plains, N.J. was named the Big East Player of the Week Monday.

    The honor was the first of the 2010-11 season and the second overall for Gibbs.

    Through the Panthers’ first five games, Gibbs has averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds. He has scored 20 or more points in three of Pitt’s first five games while shooting 47.1 percent (16-34) from 3-point range.
