The Hudson Catholic Boys Basketball Program has announced it will host a Tip-off Basketball Beefsteak Dinner on Friday evening, November 19, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. This inaugural event will take place @ the Hudson Catholic Gymnasium, 790 Bergen Ave., Jersey City, NJ.
Dinner tickets are still available and proceeds from the evening dinner will benefit the Hudson Catholic boys basketball program. All friends and alumni are invited to attend.
The dinner will have an added excitement, as we will honor two all-time Hudson Catholic greats – Jim Spanarkel (’75) and Michael O’Koren (’76).

NEW YORK -- Mike Rice and Kevin
Rutgers head coach Mike Rice announced Thursday that forward Kadeem Jack (Queens, N.Y.), power forward/center Derrick Randall (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and guard Jerome Seagears (Baltimore, Md.) have signed to compete for the Scarlet Knights.
The trio joins power forward/center Greg Lewis (Baltimore, Md.), point guard Myles Mack (Paterson, N.J.) and shooting guard Mike Taylor (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who were announced as signees on Wednesday. Recruiting analysts predict RU to welcome an incoming recruiting class ranked among the top 10 nationally.
“We are very excited to add Kadeem, Derrick and Jerome to our incoming class,” said Rice. “The program is fortunate to sign such gifted young men. We are confident that this class has the talent, skill and desire to impact the future of Rutgers basketball in an extremely positive way.”
Kentucky freshman forward Enes Kanter has been ruled “permanently ineligible” by the NCAA, but he is still permitted to practice.
Asked Thursday by reporters if Kanter could practice with the team, head coach John Calipari told reporters: “There is a chance, but he won’t be playing Friday.”
The Wildcats open with East Tennessee.
Jerry Tipton of the Herald-Leader reported Thursday that Kanter was “seen wearing practice gear.”
