NEW YORK — The Knicks chose Landry Fields with the 39th selection in last summer’s NBA Draft, one pick after choosing Syracuse shooting guard Andy Rautins and one before the Indiana Pacers picked Brooklyn native Lance Stephenson.
At the time, the Fields pick triggered a lot of head-scratching, especially from that segment of Knick fans who wanted the hometown favorite Stephenson.
But five months later, Rautins is planted firmly on the end of Mike D’Antoni’s bench and Stephenson has yet to play in an NBA game.
