Ten members of the USA Basketball Select Team that recently completed training with the USA National Team in Las Vegas will train against 2010 USA Men’s World Championship Team finalists during training in New York City.

The Select Team members will be in New York Aug. 9-13 and train against the USA World Championship Team finalists Aug 10-13.

Named to the 2010 USA Basketball Select squad that participate in the USA World Championship Team training camp in New York were: JaJuan Johnson (Purdue University / Indianapolis, Ind.); Jon Leuer (University of Wisconsin / Orono, Minn.); Shelvin Mack (Butler University / Lexington, Ky.); Kyle Singler (Duke University / Medford, Ore.); Chris Singleton (Florida State University / Canton, Ga.); Nolan Smith (Duke University / Upper Marlboro, Md.); Howard Thompkins (University of Georgia / Lithonia, Ga.); Mike Tisdale (University of Illinois / Riverton, Ill.); Kemba Walker (University of Connecticut / Bronx, N.Y.); and Chris Wright (University of Dayton / Trotwood, Ohio).

After a long July on the recruiting circuit with the New England Playaz, Naadir Tharpe has a list of schools in mind but plans to wait until he gets back to Brewster (N.H.) Academy to cut his list.

“I don’t have any top schools,” Tharpe, who previously decommitted from Providence, said Monday morning. “I’m basically looking at everybody until I get back to school and talk to my coach [Jason Smith] about what schools fit me the best.”

The 6-foot, 170-pound Tharpe listed St. John’s, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Minnesota, Iowa State, Marquette, Providence and Oklahoma.

After a long month on the AAU circuit, JaKarr Sampson has a list of his Top 3 schools going forward.

“Baylor, Kansas and St. John’s,” the 6-foot-8, 193-pound forward from Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary said Sunday night.

Don Anderson, Sampson’s AAU coach, added Louisville in the group of schools that Sampson will visit “for sure.”

“Baylor’s been consistent, they’re going to get a visit,” Anderson said. “St. John’s has been consistent, they’re going to get a visit. Kansas and Louisville. That leaves one more that he hasn’t figured out yet.”
