New York point guard Lamont “Momo” Jones spent the last couple of days visiting Florida and will land in Arizona Thursday night.

The 5-foot-11 Jones got his release from USC after Tim Floyd stepped down and will likely land at Arizona or Florida. Memphis is also interested but sources say he likely won’t land there.

Jones’ Godfather is on the Arizona staff.

The prestigious NBAPA Top 100 Camp tips off today in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The event, put together by Dave Telep of Scout, includes most of the top players in the nation from the Class of 2010, including Harrison Barnes (pictured). The camp also features 39 additional rising seniors and 12 of the top players in the Class of 2011.

Here is the full roster of players at the event, per Alex Schwartz of Northstar Basketball.

I’ve officially jumped on the Twitter Bandwagon.

I held off for a while, but now I’m in.

While I may or may not be following Brooklyn Decker, my plan is not to tweet about the endless daily minutiae of my life as I assume you all have daily minutiae in your own lives that takes precedence.

I will post links to news on ZAGSBLOG, but mostly I will follow a slew of college basketball coaches and recruits because, like it or not, this is now a legitimate source of news.

NBA Draft, New Jersey Nets, Old Knicks, USC

DeRozan averaged 21 points and 9.0 rebounds in leading USC to the Pac-10 title.

USC freshman wing DeMar DeRozan will work out for the Knicks on Thursday.

The 6-foot-7 DeRozan averaged 13.9 points and 5.6 rebounds last year for the Trojans and is projected as a Top 10 pick. He worked out solo on Wednesday for Toronto and will do the same for Knicks GM Donnie Walsh and head coach Mike D’Antoni.

“I felt like coaches get the chance to see everything I’ve improved on without paying attention to other players, their whole focus is on me,” DeRozan told The Canadian Press.

“It’s not (easy), but you get in good reps, it gets you in better shape, prepared for how the NBA life is, playing one night, travel, play again.”

St. Joe's

C.J. Aiken, a 6-foot-9, 185-pound center ranked No. 4 at his position in the Class of 2010, has verbally committed to St. Joseph’s.

Aiken, who averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocks last season at Plymouth Meeting (PA) Plymouth Whitemarsh, chose St. Joe’s over Temple and La Salle.

“Yes, it felt right,” Aiken said by phone. “I was comfortable with them. It’s one of the first schools that gave me a scholarship. They’re nice.”

“For C.J. in the local area, the folks that were on him earliest were St. Joe’s, Temple and La Salle,” Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Jim Donofrio said. “They all had a head start on building a relationship and getting to know him. He’s a very quiet kid so he’s not a big fan of the whole recruting game.

Americans in Europe, Indiana, Kyrie Irving, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, St. Patrick, Texas A&M, UConn

The Big East will meet the Big 10 when Pittsburgh and Indiana face off Dec. 8 in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.

“We’re planning to play them in the Jimmy V,” an Indiana source said.

The news was first reported by Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com.

Pitt is losing DeJuan Blair, Levance Fields and Sam Young, but returns guards Jermaine Dixon, Ashton Gibbs, Brad Wanamaker and Travon Woodall, and is bringing in McDonald’s All-American big man Dante Taylor. Both Gibbs and Taylor were invited to try out for the USA U19 National Team that will compete in the FIBA World Championships next month in Auckland, New Zealand.

Arizona, Louisville, Paterson Catholic, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, Virginia Tech

Fuquan Edwin, one of the most athletic wings in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area, is getting close to a college decision.

The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Edwin, a rising senior at Paterson (N.J.) Catholic, will choose between Big East programs Seton Hall and Providence, perhaps as early as next month.

Edwin, who helped the Cougars win the Passaic County championship last year and beat national power St. Anthony in the State tournament, will visit Seton Hall June 25 and Providence sometime next week.

Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez already landed former Paterson Catholic point guard Jordan Theodore, one of the bright spots on last year’s team. If Edwin picks the Pirates, he and Theodore could play together for two years.

“What I like about Seton Hall is, first of all it’s close,” Edwin said. “It fits my style. I think I’d be good there and it won’t hurt playing with Jordan again. We have good chemistry together.”
