Epps, Edwin Excel in Vegas

Isaiah Epps is reaping the benefits of his strong play in Vegas.

After scoring 23 points in the Playaz 78-74 semifinal loss to DC Assault in the adidas Super 64, the 6-3 guard from Plainfield High School is garnerning major interest.

“Isaiah is going to be recruited by Texas, UCLA, Michigan and Ohio State,” Playaz director Jimmy Salmon said.

Epps already holds offers from Rutgers, Seton Hall, Maryland, Pitt and St. Joe’s.

“That makes me feel good,” Epps said. “That shows me that I’m doing a good job at what I’m doing.”

Epps said he had no favorites at this time, but that he wants to go away from home for college.

“Far away,” he said.

The loss to DC Assault was especially disappointing because it was the second one this summer.

“Yeah, that’s the second time they beat us,” Epps said. “We really wanted to beat them.”

Epps’ Playaz teammate, 6-5 junior Fuquan Edwin of Paterson Catholic, also played well for the Playaz 16s. He currently holds offers from Rutgers and Seton Hall.

“Fuquan had a very good Vegas,” Salmon said. “I thought that was the best he played all season.”

Added Epps: “Fuquan, he was playing excellent. He scored when we needed him to score. Basically he just played his game.”

  • Adam, why no mention of the Playaz 15U winning the Adidas 64 15U Championship. They have major players on that team. You’ll want to write about them later, why not now?
