2014 Wing Marial Shayok May Take Summer Visits

Marial Shayok is one of the most athletic wings in the Class of 2014, and his recruitment is picking up.

Yet the 6-foot-6, 200-pound Canadian says a few schools have put in the most work so far.

“All of my schools are giving an effort but Villanova, Boston College and Providence have been recruiting me the longest,” Shayok told SNY.tv.

As reported here, Shayok, who plays for coach Joe Mantegna at Blair (N.J.) Academy, also recently picked up offers from Minnesota, Rutgers and La Salle.

Shayok plays with the CIA Bounce AAU team and also hopes to make the Canadian U19 team for this summer’s FIBA U19 World Championship for Men, which runs June 27-July 7 in Prague.

He said he may visit Boston College or UConn “before I head back to Canada.”

As for UConn, Shayok said, “They started [recruiting me] a month ago. They contacted my coach and family.”

At this point, he remains pretty open but after he recently outplayed 2014 stud Rashad Vaughn at Boo Williams, his stock should continue to rise.

“I’ll bring the ability to break down a defender to score and also pass,” he said. “I will defend guards and some fours.”
