American Christian Closing?

EvansIt appears as if American Christian may be closing the doors of its high school wing after sending its biggest star, Tyreke Evans, off to Memphis.

HoopScoop Online is reporting that the Aston Pa. school will close its high school wing after graduation this spring, and that American Christian head coach Tony Bergeron has already made inquiries with Cardozo coach Ron Naclerio about potential job openings in New York next year.

If this is true, it would leave onetime Louisville commit Lamont “Momo” Jones without a high school. Between Jones and former St. Raymond’s wing Kevin Parrom, some area school could land a couple of big-time players.

American Christian, which played St. Anthony of Jersey City on ESPN this past season, previously announced that it would no longer have post-graduates, of which there were about half a dozen on last year’s team.

Another former American Christian standout, Mike Glover, is currently at Seton Hall and the program hopes to get him eligible for next season.
