Lance, Lincoln Down Roman Catholic

Lance Stephenson and the Lincoln Railsplitters downed Maalik Wayns and Philly Roman Catholic 81-67 in the fifth-place game of the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

According to Dylan Butler’s blog on fiveborosports.com, the 6-foot-5 Stephenson tallied 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting, 12 rebounds, six assists and two steals.

“I think we played harder today. We had a long speech in the locker room the other day, talking about our mistakes,” Stephenson told fiveborosports.com. “We’re just trying to play hard and not lose any more games.”

Senior Anthony Allen added 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting and Darwin “Buddha” Ellis added 12 points and six assists despite playing with a broken pinkie.

Wayns paced Roman Catholic with 27 points and Rakeem Brookins added 18.

Lincoln took a 38-32 halftime behind 16 points and nine boards from Stephenson. Wayns had 16 for Roman Catholic and Brookins had 12.

Tonight’s semifinals pit No. 1 Mater Dei (Calif.) vs. Wheeler (Ga.) at 7 p.m., followed by Winter Park (Fla.) vs. No. 4 St. Patrick’s (N.J.) at 9:30.

The first- and third-place games will be shown Tuesday on ESPN and 3 and 5.

  • Adam,

Any idea how Terp bound recruit James Padgett is playing? I know he’s battling some ankle and hamstring injuries.

    Thanks in advance
