Stephenson Only Worried About PSAL

NEW YORK — The gym at Lincoln High School in Coney Island began filling up more than an hour before tipoff on Thursday evening.

The buzz was electric as excited Lincoln students filled up a set of bleachers on one side of the court, under the blue and white banners declaring the Railsplitters the 2007 and 2008 New York state champs. A smaller section of seats on the other side of the gym held a group of reporters, basketball junkies and college coaches, most notably St. John’s head coach Norm Roberts.

Fifteen police department school safety officers were on hand to help control the crowd, and another 10 New York police officers arrived during the course of the game.

  • I love Lance and I really hope he comes to Kansas but does anyone really think that is going to happen? Adam, where do you think Lance ends up if you had to bet your mother on it right now?

  • I had initially thought St. John’s, but Bill Self seems legitimately interested. I think Lance is going to have a monster year, win another PSAL title and then possibly have a few more options.
