Some of the highest-profile college basketball programs in the nation will be out in force this week for a couple of elite guards.
Rashad Vaughn, the No. 12 player in the Rivals150 for the Class of 2014, will get an audience Friday with North Carolina which could lead to an offer.
“Coach Roy Williams and Hubert Davis are going to be at our game this Friday,” Robbinsdale Cooper assistant coach Pete Kaffey told SNY.tv after the 6-foot-5 shooting guard went for 28 points and 12 rebounds in Tuesday’s win.
Kaffey previously told SNY.tv Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Florida, Minnesota, Texas, Maryland, Baylor, Tennessee and Georgetown were showing the most interest and that Vaughn would visit Kansas sometime soon. He recently visited Iowa State.
“Those schools are always calling his dad and myself,” Kaffey said. “Those schools have been coming hard.”
Meantime, Kansas, Florida and Seton Hall are among the schools that will watch 2013 point guard Emmanuel Owootoah of Cordia (Ky.) this week.
Kansas is expected to watch Owootoah at practice Wednesday, Cordia coach Rodrick Rhodes told SNY.tv.
Rhodes said Florida and Seton Hall are also expected to watch Owootoah play in a game Friday.
USC and Florida State are also expected to watch him soon.
Owootoah, meantime, wrote on his Player Blog on ZAGSBLOG that UCLA “would be my No. 1 right now but I don’t have a top 5 or 10 yet.”
