Kentucky continues to monitor some of the top Canadian recruits playing the Bluegrass State.
Rodrick Rhodes, the head coach at Cordia (Ky.) High School and a former NBA player, told SNY.tv that Kentucky assistant Orlando Antigua had reached out about 2013 point guard Emmanuel Owootoah, who recently received a qualifying ACT score.
“He said he was coming to see him,” Rhodes said of Antigua.
Rhodes, who played for Hall of Famer Bob Hurley at St. Anthony, previously told SNY.tv of Owootoah:
“I played with some really good point guards and was able to witness a lot of really good basketball.
“He’s something special. I’m his head coach and I watch as a fan sometimes.
“He makes everybody better. He makes me better as a coach. He makes his teammates better. “He’s a coach on the floor. Everybody wants to play with him.
“He has an energy to make everyone play at a certain pace. He does a phenomenal job of pushing the ball up the floor.
“At times, he’s so talented my guys can’t even keep up with him. He says, ‘Coach, they gotta run, they gotta run.’ He has no one to pass to because he has has different levels of speed he can go to.”
Antigua also went Friday to see MiKyle McIntosh, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound guard/forward at Jackson (Ky.) 22 Feet Academy.
McIntosh, one of the top uncommitted players in 2013, tweaked his knee in the second quarter and Antigua told coach Ryan Schmidt he would return to see him.
“He said he’s going to come back,” he said.
