St. Anthony Takes 79-Game Winning Streak Into SNY Invitational

Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley and St. Anthony will take a 79-game winning streak into this weekend’s SNY Invitational at City College.

The Friars (14-0) won the SNY event in 2011.

The last time St. Anthony lost a game (in March 2010), the Yankees were the defending World Series champions and Tiger Woods was still married to Elin Nordegren.

In the above video, Hurley talks about the leadership of Temple-bound point guard Josh Brown, who’s averaging 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Brown and the Friars will meet Wes Myers and three-time defending New York PSAL champ Boys & Girls tonight at 8 p.m.

Long Island Lutheran, led by UConn-bound forward Kentan Facey, meets junior point guard Shavar Newkirk and Cardinals Hayes in the first game at 6 p.m.

The winners will meet in Saturday’s 4 p.m. championship game, while the consolation game is at 2.

The games will be shown live on SNY.
