Jabari Parker will announce his college choice Thursday on ESPNU, but said he still is not completely certain where he will go.
He is considering Duke, Michigan State, Florida, BYU and Stanford, with the expectation being that he’ll pick Duke or MSU.
“Not right now,” Parker told ESPN’s Dave Telep before Simeon lost to DeSoto, 67-57, in Texas in an ESPN game. “I’m kind of iffy. I’m still balancing things out. I have second opinions that I’m just learning from my family trying to see if the right decision I’m going to make is there. But right now, it’s not all the way 100 percent.”
The 6-foot-8 Parker, who is just coming back from a foot injury that sidelined him for four months, managed just five points on 1-for-7 shooting while playing in front of Michigan State’s Tom Izzo and Dwayne Stephens, BYU’s Dave Rose and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, Jeff Capel and Steve Wojciechowski.
Simeon coach Rob Smith told ESPNChicago.com, “I think he’s 90 percent sure if he’s not 100 percent sure on where he wants to go.”
Sonny Parker, Jabari’s father, told USA Today, that his son would “probably” pick Duke or Michigan State, but Jabari told the Chicago Tribune that wasn’t the case and he was still considering all five schools.
“I still have doubts, so I’m not fully there,” Parker said. “But I’ll have it by that day.”
“It’s just a commitment. It’s not like I’m signing. It still gives me room to make plans in case anything goes otherwise.”
