Anthony Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

http://www.nba.com/media/act_carmelo_anthony.jpgCarmelo Anthony was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week after he helped lead the Knicks to a 3-1 mark, averaging a league-best 29.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.

Anthony scored over 30 points in two contests.  In New York’s 106-99 home victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, Anthony scored a game-high 34 points, and added six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.

“I’m healthy,” Anthony said Sunday when talking about the “MVP” chants he received at Madison Square Garden. “Not make any excuses on last year but I  wasn’t 100 percent healthy. I’m healthy this year. As a team we’re healthy and we’re winning basketball games and we’re doing it in a great fashion.”

Kevin Durant was named the Western Conference Player of the Week.

The Knicks begin a three-game road swing Wednesday in Charlotte, followed by stops in Miami Thursday and Chicago Saturday.

They hope to have shooting guard Jason Kidd (back spasms) and point guard Raymond Felton (hand) available for the games.
