Denzell Taylor Nearing a Decision; Indiana, Louisville, Kansas Watch Briscoe

St. Benedict’s Prep power forward Denzell Taylor is nearing a decision.

“I think it’s going to come down to Old Dominion, St. Bonaventure, Siena and St. Joe’s,” St. Benedict’s Prep head coach Mark Taylor told SNY.tv Wednesday.

The 6-foot-7, 215-foot power forward will take an unofficial today (Wednesday) to LIU and visits Old Dominion officially Nov. 3. He is in the process of setting up officials to Siena and St. Bonaventure.

Siena, St. Bonaventure and St. Joe’s have yet to officially offer, Taylor said.

Whoever gets Taylor, a Canadian whose father lives in New Jersey, will get a guy who likes to rebound, set screens, score on putbacks and do the little things that help teams win.

“He is a warrior,” Taylor said. “He is the guy who you win with. Even in our pickup games here, whichever team Denzell plays with, they find a way to win.

“He does a lot of things that go unnoticed that help you win. He has a constant motor, gets loose balls, blocks shots, sets screens, makes putbacks.

“He doesn’t require the basketball, which is a rare breed. He doesn’t pout, he just keeps going whether he touches the ball or not. In today’s game, that is a rare breed.”

INDIANA, LOUISVILLE, KANSAS WATCH BRISCOE

Indiana, Louisville and Kansas have all been in recently to watch 2015 guard Isaiah Briscoe, Taylor said.

Indiana assistant Kenny Johnson attended practice Tuesday and also saw Karl Towns and Wade Baldwin at St. Joe’s-Metuchen. He will also be at Roselle Catholic today to watch 2015 shooting guard Malachi Richardson.

“Indiana came in and said, ‘We just want to get involved,'” Taylor said. “They like [6-10 freshman forward] Rodney Miller. They like [6-7 junior wing] Tyrell Bellot-Green. They like Isaiah Briscoe.”

Louisville assistant Wyking Jones and Kansas assistant Joe Dooley were also both in for Miller and Briscoe.

“If Isaiah Brisoce wants to go, they said we’ll take him,” Taylor said.
